I've read all three books in His Dark Materials trilogy. They were pretty good! I enjoyed the moving between worlds.

I've read all three books when I read them, but I was young and, I have to admit, not very religious, so the fact that the Catholic Church was portrayed poorly really didn't affect me. I think I would still like them if I read them today, but this does put a perspective on things.

The His Dark Materials trilogy is a great piece of literature; no other author that I have seen as of yet has attempted and pulled off brilliantly such a unique and original realism piece. I do not agree with the any of the theological viewpoints in the book - I am Christian, nothing will change that - but from a purely literary standpoint, this is a wonderful bit of literature. Books with such indepth scientific, religious, and philosophic subject matter penned as gracefully as Pullman's just aren't written much anymore. His Dark Materials, if it isn't obvoius, is my favorite literary work. If Pullman were Christian, I could see him giving the awesome, beautiful Chronicles of Narnia a run for its money.
