I loved the latest version of the Phantom by Webber - I wonder what Leroux would think? I saw it thrice while it was in the movie theatres.

I want to see it on stage, too. It was in Arizona a while back, I believe that was the state? Anyway, the tickets were more than I could afford, being a college student and all.

I am going to be seeing CATS live this December, however. (;

I'M SEEING IT TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's in Denver, and I'm seeing it! I'm SOOOOO excited! My friend gave me the sound track after it went out of theaters, and I memorized every song and read every book and saw EVERY SINGLE MOVIE that was about Phantom of the Opera. For all you other fanatics, DON'T watch the 1998 version. It's porn, and creeped me out. When I finally saw the movie I was SOOO happy! And now I'm seeing it on the stage! SO EXCITED!!!

I JUST SAW IT!!! I'M SO HAPPY! Just thought I'd share! :) I got autographs from the Phantom, Christine, Madame Giry, Meg, the conductor, and other random people. Didn't get Raoul though... Ah well, I just care about the Phantom!

Have any of you guys read the book? Apparently it was based on a book but I can't remember the author.

Gaston Leroux. Although his novel is much different from Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage adaptation. I prefer Leroux's novel above all other forms of Phantom, however. :)

I have seen ALW's musical several times...can't say that I care for the movie (I expect my Phantom to be able to sing ;) ) but I love the stage show. I own so many of the cast recordings it's unreal, my favorite is the Vienna cast (mmm, Alexander Goebel) followed closely by the OLC and the Swedish. I've also seen the Yeston & Kopit version once and own the soundtrack for the Ken Hill production.

Oooh, congratulations! I bet you are excited. :) First autographs are wonderful, aren't they? Who was your Christine - Marie or Beth? What did you think? Isn't Gary's voice absolutely divine? :blush:

I loved the stage version. But I didn't get the "Hold your hand at the level of your eyes" until after I had watched the movie version.
This is one of the reasons that I normally try to watch a tape of the show before I see things live.
