Please note that this sermon of Peter, as most in the Acts, includes mention of The Judgment as an essential element of the Gospel. The Gospel of the Kingdom centered around the resurrection and the judgment, not "go straight to heaven if you die in the next 2 minutes".
Psalm 97:2. CLV. Cloud and murkiness are around Him; Righteousness and right judgment are the basis of His throne.
Where's it say that gentile Christians can't eat pork and oysters?
Those appointed times will be fulfilled in the spirit, just as it has already begun to be so.Ezekiel speaks of the kingdom to come:
(CLV) Ezk 44:24
In a controversy it is they who shall officiate in judgment; in accord with My ordinances, thus they will judge it; My laws and My statutes shall they observe at all My appointed times, and My sabbaths shall they hallow.
But how far back do we need to go? We can’t go back before the flood, when we ate only vegetables - 2 Peter 3:3-7 - but if the lion lies down with the lamb, will we eat meat at all?
Caleb>Kenezite, marries Ephrathah a Jewish woman, inherits land in the region of Hebron. Ancestors of David, with the blood of Moab by Ruth, becomes The House of God by perpetual covenant, 'the sure mercies of David'. The Ephrathites were 'near of kin' to them.Remember that many Egyptians left Egypt with Moses; and they entered covenant at Sinai. When they did that they became part of Israel.
Nice to meet you too!
This should be a good time to rest from the conversation but I appreciate having had it.
Shalom!

1 Corinthians 5:7-8
Sorry, just a side comment. But an important one! Peter gives a lengthy sermon here, and while clean and unclean animals is a context, inclusion of gentiles is the purpose. He has been called to this house, and I think this at least part of your point, not to eat a gentile meal, but to preach the gospel to the gentiles. That included The Judgment. A subject most often neglected in the modern evangelical presentation.I'm not sure how this pertains to the meaning of the vision.

"For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit."(CLV) Num 15:15
As for the assembly, there shall be one statute for you and for the sojourner sojourning with you. It shall be an eonian statute throughout your generations. Like you so shall the sojourner be before Yahweh.
(CLV) Num 15:16
One law and one custom, it shall come to be for you and for the sojourner sojourning with you.
(CLV) Ex 12:49
One law shall there be for both the native and for the sojourner sojourning in your midst.
(CLV) Lv 24:22
The same judgment shall you come to have; for the sojourner as well as the native shall it be: for I, Yahweh, am your Elohim.
(CLV) Num 15:29
For the native among the sons of Israel and for the sojourner sojourning in their midst, one law shall apply for you, to anyone doing it through inadvertence.
No mention of gentiles here. Just those who walk, or abide in the Spirit, enabling them to fulfill the requirements of the Law, to the Jew first, and also the Gentile. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. You are quoting old covenant rules which do not apply to gentiles.

This came out in the 'Third Day' thread that Lulav created. Discussed in more detail with icxn. That's a good point. Most of the message that I hear from most churches is all about the love. Well we should be vigilant in remembering that loving YHWH is keeping his commandments. When we fail; there are consequences.

25 Now as Peter came to enter, Cornelius, meeting with him, falling at his feet, worships." 26 Yet Peter raises him, saying, "Rise! I myself also am a man." 27 And, conversing with him, he entered, and is finding many come together." 28 Besides, he averred to them, "You are versed in the fact how illicit it is for a man who is a Jew to join or come to another tribe, and God shows me not to say that any man is contaminating or unclean."
Many miss this point completely!Paul was telling the Corinthians to physically keep YHWH's Moed (feast)
LOL, should have used the King James! darkness, murky sounds a bit damp, swampy.Good point except I am not sure about the "murkiness"??
Not promoting circumcision here, just obedience to the Holy Spirit by a conscience without offense toward God and man. When I read Leviticus, I did not think, 'I should start doing this'. I thought, look how exact, how precise God's standards are! Grace can never be used as an excuse for sloppy witness. And the requirements are not the Torah laws.
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
