Good Day, all

I have been asked to read a book put out by Mr. Ruckman called the Mythological Septuagint. I know little about this person, other than what little I have heard and read. I will with hold my assesment of him till a later time, though I am interested in reading his book. It seems that his assertion just in the title sounds almost silly given the historical facts that he must over come.

Have you read this book, what do you think?

In doing some research came up with these strange things:

In The Unknown Bible, Ruckman claims to hold to 14 "biblical truths" which other Bible teachers have overlooked for 2,000 years. These include the following:
1. Angels as thirty-three year old males without wings; and all woman in the CHURCH AGE receiving thirty-three year old male bodies at the Rapture. ...

2. Faith and works as the plan of salvation for the Tribulation saints with WORKS ALONE in the Millennium. ...

3. The spiritual circumcision of the believer's soul literally cut loose from the inside of his fleshy body at the time of his new birth. ...

4. Demons as winged creatures ranging in size from those of flies and mosquitoes to eagles and vultures ...

Peace to u,

Bill

I think that Ruckman has very good books, I think his reseach is great and his reading is great. I have a couple of his books. I really liked Body, Soul, and Spirit. He really does a good job explaining the spirit world and has a great insight on our spiritual side.
My old pastor came out of his school that was when we lived in Germany. I now attend a church where my pastor came from Hyles Anderson. The teaching and preaching is differant from each college.
I hope this helps. Ruckman had been heavly critized for what some might refer to as "Anti- Catholic". If you can just ignore those things, I still think his studies and resources are good reading and packed with meat.

Years ago, I used to have one or two of Peter Ruckman's commentaries on one or two of Paul's epistles. He had been recommended to me by a pastor of an independent Baptist Church in the USA. Being an avid reader and not knowing anything about Ruckman, I picked the books up at a table at a conference I was attending.

It didn't take long in the first book to realize that Peter Ruckman's writings are far outside of what you'd expect from a Bible commentary and go regularly into virulent anti-Catholic rhetoric, name calling, and questionable interpretations of scripture (and history). Even if you don't agree with Roman Catholic doctrine (and I don't), Ruckman's comments seem to be much more from the mentality of Chick tracts than from a scholar who's trying to convince you of his viewpoint throug a well-reasoned presentation of evidence. He brands virtually everyone who doesn't agree with him as a heretic, a cultist, a liar, or all three.

Fairly quickly, the Ruckman books I owned found their way to the fireplace, lest I lead anyone else astray by passing them along.

If you can do your research without Ruckman's input, I'd really recommend it.

Regards,

Good Day, Zoomie

Thank you for your imput. In doing some reasearch on Mr. Ruckman and some of the things he has said and done. This man should be looked at very carefully he tends not to be very loving. I have found his quaifications to endevor in such matters to be lacking he is not a textual critic, nor a histortian in biblical matters at all. Kind of funny that he would attempt to write a book on this subject. I have been asked to read it and I will for historical proofs, against his arguments. Given the fact that he does not take history as fact if it disagrees with his point of view it should be easy. Because he will not deal "historicly" with those issues he does not like.

Peace to u,

Bill
