Apparently, these reformed Christians differ with ya'll's definition of the Rock.

You might add that none of these pretenders claim infallability or claim the exclusive right to exegete.

Welcome to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the liberty in Christ that the Protestant Founding Father's of this country protected when spoke up & said:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident..."

I do, hours each day, which is why we know Rome's gospel is not true.

Titus 3;
3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Rome obliterated that truth.

holdon gave a good reason:
But more interesting are these 2 other facts:
A. petra is feminine whereas petros is masculine.
B. petra has an article whereas petros does not.

Jesus says: Simon you are peter. Meaning: you are of rock: a stone. It was what characterized him. (therefore no article). It was a fulfillment of the prediction by Jesus in Jn 1:43.

Jesus also says: "upon this the rock" using a feminine word and with the article: He is referring to the main object itself. It is the confession of faith that Peter exhibited as revealed by the Father.

He does NOT say: "and upon you Peter I will build My church", whereas He did say: " will give you (Peter) the keys", etc...

Peter is one of the stones, as we are. He is not the rock.

The Bible is about Christ, not Pete.

He is "part" of the foundation of apostles(plural) and prophets with Jesus as the chief cornerstone..

The ROCK:

Some misuse Mat.16:18. Let’s look at it.

Mat.16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

The problem seems to be the misunderstanding of two words, Peter and rock.

The word translated “Peter” is Strong’s # 4074 “petros” which means (a piece of rock.)
Vines Dictionary says it is a small rock, usually small enough to pick up.
“Petros” is used 162 times in the Bible. It is always translated Peter.

This is not the same as the word translated “rock” Strong’s # 4073 which means (a mass of rock.) This word is used only 16 times and refers to a large mass of rock, like a foundation for a house or larger.

The times it refers to an individual it refers to Jesus Christ alone.
1. 1Pet.2:7-8 Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” 8 And, “He is the “stone” (Strong’s #4073) that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
2. Ro.9:33 As it is written: “ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and “ rock” (Strong’s #4073) of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
3. 1Cor.10:4 For they drank of that spiritual “Rock” that followed them, and that “Rock” was Christ. (Rock-Strong’s #4073)
Contrary to the teaching of some Jesus is the “Head of the Church--His Church” He never relinquished control of His Church. There is NO VICAR OF CHRIST, which means one that is in place of Christ. NO one can or ever will take the place of Christ. Nor will they be in His office. Christ will fill His office forever.
Nimrod the founder of the “Babylonian Mystery Religion” wanted to be “in place of or before, or in the face of God,” very much like “The Vicar of Christ.” It did not happen then. It is not happening now and it never will.
People use this teaching to try to say that Peter was the first pope or was in some way involved in the Catholic Church. “Simon the Sorcerer” may very well have been, but not the Apostle Peter.

Well terry, since I have owned my own company since 1987, employing 15 men with families, I set my own hours and have time to do other things, since the business runs practically by itself these days, and even at that, still put in about 50 hours per week into the company myself, whereas the first three years it was more like 80 or 90. You see, I adhere to the concept of delegating authority and pay them well to do what frees me up for other things.

Ya dig?

By the way terry, do you consider it stealing from your company to be playing on the internet on company time?

And you're a blessing to your family. Thank GOD for those
who earn the money for the family.
God has a plan for each of us!

I have to post between work too.
Obviously it's working out for both of us.
Because here we are.
