Well I use the Koine greek and if the Greek is feminine then that is how I translate it. If the RCs want to use Aramaic/Latin, that is their choice.

How big would a rock be?

Catholics also believe that Christ is the Rock, but in a different way...we believe that the Pope is Christ's visible representative upon earth, that's why he also is called "the rock". Christ is the one who builds the Church and He is the Head, and Peter is the one on whom the Church is built.

hmm so now you're saying that we're "not putting God first" and taking away from His glory?

I'd be really careful with making judgements like that about people's hearts. It comes off as arrogant, brother...sorry.

I thought it was a very nice reminder to all of us, not to exalt
any creation above the creator (Romans 1)
But I can understand the sore spots and our natural tendancy
to shield it.

Hey Monica. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying Jesus is the Rock....not Peter. Take what you may out of that...but I didn't think of it that deep to be making any sort of judgment on anyone's heart.

Hi and thanks for placing the emphasis on what I wrote. As you rightly pointed out, it's a reminder to us all. How can it be judgemental when I say WE must remember to place God above Mary, Peter and anyone else. WE must remember to give glory only to God; not Mary, Peter or anyone else. How can this be arrogant as Monica says? I would've thought anyone in whatever denomination including the Pope in the RC denomination and Joseph Smith in the Mormon denomination would agree with what I've said.

Not sure you totally misunderstood, because it is pretty
much how protestants believe. Especially here on CF
because we tend to 'focus' on those subjects. Or when
I go to a relatives house and they have all these
ceramic things of mary, but Jesus never is mentioned...
