I've been making a number of thread about speaking in tongues, but don't get me wrong. The most important part of my relationship with the Lord is not speaking in tongues but in having personal conversation via His small voice. Still - I have seen enough of the gift of tongues and how the Lord has used it in my life to feel strongly that we Christians all need to be seeking the spiritual gifts which includes speaking in tongues and getting the interpretation. Let me give just a couple of example of testimonies about the Lord using the gift of tongues in incredible ways.
ACCIDENTS: He has so often used me to pray in tongues over auto accidents, and the incredible part of it is that He has me start praying in tongue before I know about the auto accident.
A few weeks after I was given the gift of tongue there was a week when I wound up going by about seven accidents and praying for them. I would hear His small voice tell me to take a certain route at a certain time, and suddenly the Spirit would move in me and I would start praying in tongues and a mile or so down the road the traffic would slow down and I would be going by an accident scene praying in tongues!
One of those times I was driving my mom and my brother's mother-in-law who had come to visit. The Lord had asked me to drive them on a tour of the city, which was going to take about six hours. I was on the freeway about 20 minutes when the Spirit moved on me and suddenly I was speaking in tongues. The Spirit has me in tears, and I was feeling pretty silly. Still, both my mom and my brother's mother-in-law both sometime spoke in tongues themselves so they had some idea what was happening. So I am in tears and praying in tongues and the freeway then slows down to stop and go traffic. I ask the Lord what was going on, and He told me there was an accident. He told me that someone had died and that person didn't know Him, while another person was hurt and needed prayer. That was supposed to explain why I was praying and also weeping. We shortly came to the accident where one car had wound up off the freeway and had stopped upside down about 30 feet off the side of the freeway.
Another time I was on the way home from work and instantly the Spirit moved on me hard and instantly I was praying quickly in tongues, and as this instantly started I noticed a car two lanes to the left and about 100 yards up the freeway starting to spin out. As I prayed in tongues I watched this car spin and head toward the side of the freeway and towards a drop of probably 25 to 30 feet. There was a guard rail but would it hold, and what would happen when the car hit the rail? The car spun and wound up hitting the rail square with the back of the car. It worked out so perfect that the rail held, the driver was just pressed back hard in his seat, and so got out of his car and walked away, apparently unharmed. Lucky man, or should I say 'bless man'?
Now there are 2 true examples, and I could come up with soo many more and in many different ways. But only considering those two examples, why are we not seeking and desiring to be lead by the Spirit as He needs via the gift of tongues?
