  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1. What role does the Holy Spirit play in strengthening your testimony?

2. What does it mean to be “sealed with the holy Spirit of promise”?
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

3. What does it mean to be baptized with the Holy Ghost?
Mark 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

In general, would like to hear everyone’s concept of who the Holy ghost is…:)

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13 ..when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

1 Kings 19
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

In trying to define what the Holy Spirit is, 1 Kings is my favorite scripture. The Spirit simultaneously has the qualities of peace, quiet, mildness while at the same time carrying with it the power of God.

 I know very little about the Holy Spirit, so I hope what I say will not mislead anyone...

1. What role does the Holy Spirit play in strengthening your testimony?

I believe that the Holy Spirit lead me to accepting Christ and gives me faith...He transformed me and made me a 'new creation'. It's difficult to distinguish between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; because they are all One...but I believe that the Holy Spirit is God's presence in us. We are literally temples of the Holy Spirit..which is amazing!! Who are we, that He would choose us...but it is all for His glory! :)

2. What does it mean to be “sealed with the holy Spirit of promise”?
Ephesians1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

I believe that in the Resurrection of the dead, we will be given eternal life by the Holy Spirit...and if He lives in us, it's like we are already connected to the source of all Life, the 'living water'. Also, I believe that the Holy Spirit helps us keep our faith, and brings us back to repentance every time we sin...so because of Him, we are able to persevere until the last day...He will make sure that God's promise will come true.

3. What does it mean to be baptized with the Holy Ghost?
Mark1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

To me, it means that we are changed from the inside...we are not just cleansed externally, but internally.

John14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John16:13 ..when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..

James1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

I agree :) The Holy Spirit leads us to truth, and because of Him we are able to have a 'two way' relationship with God...the Holy Spirit is so precious, and we would be so lost without Him!

my two cents :)

It's so difficult to describe the Holy Spirit! haha..

God bless!
