  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Recently and without going into alot of detail...I found myself being persecuted for holding fast to my Christian ethics and morals (when push came to shove) among a Group of People who are mostly non/anti-Christian . The Group is a Social Group whereby we all have a common interest in this one particular local recreational activity done between 2-3 times per week.

It had actually been awhile since I was faced with this level of cynical-scrutiny from Others because of my Faith, but now ive had time to reflect on it I am reminded that just as they persecuted Christ...we strict Followers of Christ shall experience the same. I also experienced Gods grace and peace afterward and basically counted the experience as a Blessing .

Anyway, i just wanted to voice this and I concluded that maybe if we ARENT being persecuted eventually, that perhaps theres not enough difference between our Christian Walk and that of non/anti-Christian people (?)

Share if you feel led to. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing, hon. I'm really sorry that this happened to you. I've faced opposition from a lot of my family since becoming a Christian. If persecution is growing, I think that can even be something to rejoice in (Romans 5:3-4). However, the word 'persecution' gets thrown around a lot these days and it's quite politically charged - people would point to the longstanding seat of Christian power in our countries and point at us and say "you're not an oppressed minority so you can't be persecuted". But whether you call it 'persecution' and make a case for it being an actual socio-political 'phenomenon', or whether you call it plain nastiness and intolerance, it happens to some of us, and if it happens to us, I think there's space to be glad that we can suffer like Christ in even the tiniest respect.

I think if we aren't suffering for our Faith, then in some ways...that ISNT good. If we suffer for taking a stand for Christ, then it shows we are taking a good proactive stand for him. And as you say ..for that, we will be rewarded one day in heaven for it.

I am sad you had to indure this type behavior, and happy that you took away something good from the situation. Unfortunately I feel the word persecution is a bit strong for your situation. You didnt suffer any real damage other then a bit to your ego, no offence. Intolerance and name calling is annoying but hardly suffering. You should just disregard them, see these poor sinners as nothing of consequence and just enjoy your activity.

Are you still active with this group? If so, do the members of this group support you for holding your own? And have any asked to know why you remain faithful despite having been socially judged?

My favorite podcast pastor, Stephen Armstrong at versebyverseministry.org, stated once that he remarks upon converts in India because they change their names to Matthew, or other Christian names, as to publicly declare their faith, by which oftentimes leads to so form of persecution.

My sola scriptura studies and those studies at the VOM online classroom instruct me that we all suffer when one suffers and we all rejoice when one is honored.
