  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Scripture tells us that when we love the Lord, people will hate us and persecute us because they hated Christ first. But many people especially those in the US confuse persecution with martydom. So this question is for those in "Christian friendly" nations, and if I knew how to make it a vote, I would....It's actually two part

1. have you ever experienced persecution in your "Christan friendly" nation and
2. have you ever been persecuted and/or seriously mistreated by the church you hold or once held dear?

No replies? Okay, I have been both "attacked" (once with a knife) for speaking the truths of God (and I was asked what those truths are) and been abused by the church for both my husband's and mine stand for the truths of scripture, things like Love your neighbor as yourself. All in the USA...is that not persecution?

1. Yes, I have experienced persecution for my faith here in the US. It has been mostly taunting and heckling though, nothing physically violent so far.

2. No, I have not experienced persecution for my faith by the church I attend or in any other church I have attended since I came to Christ.

You're welcome. I enjoyed sharing. I wanted to add that Scripture tells us that everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12). We should expect to be persecuted if we live for Christ.

Well, going by the early church's model, you were only a martyr if you didn't survive. You were a confessor if you did survive - many were simply maimed for being Christians rather than killed.

I personally have not been physically attacked because of my faith.

persecution which is different from martyrdom and confessor both, is about abuse at the hand of man for the sake of the Christ you serve. Martyrdom is death for that same Christ, which is why few people can claim martyrdom I would guess. Confession or confessor, then would be claiming that Christ no matter the opposition would it?
