• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

 Hey Darl,
That verse made me so mad and confused for so long.... if "No 'person' ever hated 'their' body" then what the h**l is wrong with me.... :sigh: :help:
However I have come to realise that when it really comes down to it, it is Satan who hates my body, and his lies have made me believe I hate it too... but slowly God's love is breaking through and one day I will love me body the way God loves me... for now, I love that God is so creative and ingenious. (I also struggle with Psalm 139, but I know it's the truth... just have to let me heart feel it & rest in it's hope)...
We are fearfully and wonderfully made... by a God who is so far beyond my understanding that I stand in awe of His magnificence.
Anyway, that's me...
Love & prayers,
xoxoxo

Hmm...it's an interesting verse Emma, but in context it makes a little more sense. I disagree that no-one has ever hated their body, but surrounding that verse it talks about love. A husband's love for his wife and Christ's love for His church. I agree completely with Celtic. God loves us so fully and with such an awesome passion - and He wants us to see ourselves the same way. He continues to change us ever so slowly - we were made in His image and He'll continue to refine us, mind, body and soul. He's got the perfect artwork in mind for our lives...I think we can get there too .

You know, this post is interesting, because I just read Ephesians and that verse stuck out to me as well. I wondered about it just like you. But perhaps in saying that no man hated his own body, maybe it means that no man should hate his own body, because it's a work of God. And we should rejoice in the beautiful work that God has done ... for you have to admit that a body, even if it doesn't fit the sociocultural definition of "perfect", is really a perfect creation ... the very complexity makes it perfect. God knew what He was doing. And He loves each of our bodies, and each of US, and He wants us to love ourselves and others just as He loves us. Yes. I think.

Okay, I'm rambling now. :) But I hope that made some sense.
