We can certainly ask, but it's an entirely different thing to be prepared when it shows up ... isn't the Word of G-d supposed to prepare us for such an eventuality?

"All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2Ti 3:17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

I think it is :)

Should the Word of God not already have prepared all of those who have heard it? You know the Way. Love God, and your neighbor as yourself. He gives us his Spirit, brother. This way we might produce its fruits: kindness, compassion, love, charity, hope, faith...

Ephesians 4
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Can the Spirit not lead us from these things?

Sarcasm? ("Have fun with following your false teachers, bro")

Anger? ("NO! You are WRONG!")

Slander? ("You purposefully twist the Word of God!")

Bitterness? ("I don't care if you say you're sorry... you're not forgiven")

If we cleave to Christ and his Holy Spirit, we should make every effort to show it.

I wish to thank you both personally and on behalf of Christian Forums for not only for starting this thread, but for what you posted as well.

May God bless you always!:)

Jesus, Paul, John, and Peter used very harsh words in correcting those who came against the truth.

Some people who believe in their version of the truth feel they also have the right to use very harsh words to share their version of the truth.

What a person truly needs to be careful of is; that their version of the truth has been taught to him or her, by God, and not by man.

Of course. The question here, is "how?" Surely not by the pretense that we never get angry. There will come a time when you will make a mistake in front of your daughter, and she will know it. (Hopefully not due to anger, but I digress) It will be MUCH better for you to admit the mistake to her, even if you're pretty sure she didn't recognize it, and make amends in transparent fashion, than it would be to hide the whole thing from her. Of course, when that time comes, and in what situation, is for you to decide.

Until then you will want to come to grips with the whole of Scripture on this subject, without compromising the clear Truth of this passage, or any other.

Of course! Anger is a complex emotion, and in a healthy individual the only reason for it popping up is because we need the energy to change things.
Good point! One time I had to get good and angry to leave a painful job, the anger gave the aggression to mimimize the fear of the unknown, and the guts to walk out..I am much better off now.
Who wouldn't want to live in a world where nothing needs to be changed? Yet this is not our reality.

The important thing here, is not to let it get the best of us:

"if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee [shall be] his desire, and thou shalt rule over him." (Genesis 4:7)

You'll notice this is not a new concept.

Anger? ("NO! You are WRONG!")
Well if you remember there are two types of anger, righteous and unrighteous. A burning hatred against someone for no real reason is unrighteous. But then there is righteous anger, Remember Jesus' anger at the money lenders?
There is also "wrath and fury" from God on those that do not have the righteousness of Christ :)

Luke 21:23 "Woe yet to the-ones in belly having, and to those giving suck in those, the days.
For shall be great necessity on the land and wrath/orgh <3709> in the People, this

Reve 15:1 And I saw another Sign in the Heaven, great and marvelous.

I can agree with there is no need of sarcasm, but you do have the right to get angry (righteous anger, without sinning) if someone is twisting the scriptures on purpose. I also believe you have the right to tell someone they are twisting the scriptures if you believe they are doing that, but it should be done in a loving manner.

I agree with there is no need to yell or slander.

Having to correct someone, or telling someone that what they believe is wrong is harder than to just deliver the correct teachings. Those scenarios usually results to angry bickerings; some friendships were broken because of that. Because it is harder for people to be corrected than to learn for themselves that they have made a mistake. It's like you are going to slap someone in the face then you'll kiss him afterwards. :sorry:

So if Joel Osteen is teaching false doctrine (which he does) and does not realize it then people should not attempt to correct him because his intentions are good? It sounds rather cowardly if you ask me, and unscriptural.
Since you brought up ole J.O., you and others may be interested on what the SDA's think of him :)

Joel Osteen claims the OT dietary laws are still binding in the NT.

Joel Osteen, the Evangelical Pastor of the largest Mega Church in North America, has exploded the popular Evangelical view that the dietary laws were done away with at the cross.

He basically, takes the position that SDAs have had for over 100 years. You have to admire his courage for preaching this sermon in Houston, Texas, one of the most carnivorous cities in the North America.

(NKJV) Psalms 79:11 Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; According to the greatness of Your power Preserve those who are appointed to die;

Imagine if Paul would have been slain by the Jews trying to kill him in Acts 23 :sorry:

Acts 23:18 So he took him and brought [him] to the commander and said, "Paul the prisoner called me to [him] and asked [me] to bring this young man to you. He has something to say to you."
19 Then the commander took him by the hand, went aside and asked privately, "What is it that you have to tell me?"
20 And he said, "The Jews have agreed to ask that you bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire more fully about him.
21 "But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who have bound themselves by an oath that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him; and now they are ready, waiting for the promise from you."

Amen brother! What a powerful and humbling message. If I may, I would like to add Galatians Chapter 5 and James Chapter 3 to this message. And I encourage everyone to read both of these chapters and take them to heart. Thank you for this humble reminder that we become hypocrites when we curse others with the same tongue we bless G-d the Father with (James 3:9-10).

Very good thread.

Too many Christians: were raised in bitter homes, by bitter parents, falling sick with bitterness in their minds, &
then body
. - In that sorry state, they join forums :) where they dump their bitterness on yet others. And they do
their mischief no less in the name of God/Jesus. And this they call Christianity?

the corruption of unjust anger.

The clear truth is that the Word of God tells me to get rid of all anger.

the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.[/COLOR]

Notice that you have 3 distinct concepts here! 1) Unjust anger can certainly be problematic. 2) The wrath of man. 3) ALL anger.

There are things in this world, that somebody needs to change. May you be part of the solution!

"If you're not disturbed, you haven't been paying attention."

G-d does not call us to be wimps, nor door mats.

Luk_6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Jas 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Eph.4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Th Bible actually says both. So i assume getting rid of anger is better than keeping anger. But if we do get angry, we shouldn't also sin in that anger. I guess. Maybe it means its ok to be angry as long as we don't sin, but not to hold on to that anger, but let it go. Maybe
