  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

 good question...

I'd say I'd go to pretty far lengths...I've sat in trees, got down on my belly in public, sat in the blowing cold waiting...hmm. I've appraoched people before and asked to take their photo (that was for an assignment).

But I wouldn't go so far as to, say, hang off a building or anything like that :D lol

The perfect shot can be really hard to come by, for me at least. I once jumped from wet rock to wet rock in Acadia Nat Park in Maine to get a shot of the ocean and I didn't fall in the ocean.
One time I was at a race track and was hanging over/climbing a fence to get a close picture and they kicked me out!! But in the end it all pays off!

I once jumped across a gap about 12 feet wide over a 100 foot chasm . That was fun. Decided to climb down the other side of the mountain rather than do that again with a backpack full of camera gear.

I climbed a very steep sheer rock trail in a major snowstorm to be ready for a sunrise. Sat within 5 feet of the edge of a cliff for an hour before it was light enough for me to realize how close I was. I wouldn't have stepped over - I pretty much tested every step on the way up. and I'd climbed that trail 100 times in the past. But it still made me catch my breath and I ended up tying a guideline to a scrub oak growing by the side of the cliff just in case.

Sometimes I'll start off by catching a sunrise on the eastern shore of Florida, go get breakfast, drive over to the west coast, catch a beautiful senset, then eat dinner at a beachfront restaurant. Once I did the same thing, except drove to Key West for the sunset (6.5 hours away). Kind of chasing the sun. But lots of fun.

Now - I just spend a lot of money trying to get the perfect shot and people pay me money to do it, LOL. Every one of my clients gets a portfolio of perfect shots (something that makes them respond emotionally). I love photography with a passion. I'm blessed to be able to shoot on almost a daily basis.

I dangled my camera/lens outside the window of a Cessna 152 at 1,500 feet. :D

I've laid on my stomach way too many times to count, and out in public. Ummm... stayed after work for about 2.5 hours for the sun to be just right.

Gotten completely soaked in rain to get the right shot I wanted.

Not even to mention the coutless sun-burns I have from standing outside for 12+hours during airshows!! haha

All that and I'm still waiting for that perfect shot. lol

Photography: It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
