okay what do you mean by standards?Mija said:I'm part of the UPC of America...i enjoy being pentecostal but there are times when i think that pentecostals think they are better then everyone else since they have all these standards...
our standards are these: no tv, no going to theatres, ladies must wear skirts or dresses at all times, no jewlery, no movies. and if people are not following these standards well thats not good. but sometimes i feel some are acting as though by having all the standards that it will make them better in God's eyes. does what i am saying make sense?CoolChristianRocker said:okay what do you mean by standards?
Perhaps I don't believe as strict as thatMija said:our standards are these: no tv, no going to theatres, ladies must wear skirts or dresses at all times, no jewlery, no movies. and if people are not following these standards well thats not good. but sometimes i feel some are acting as though by having all the standards that it will make them better in God's eyes. does what i am saying make sense?
I dont know about standards, but mearly convictions. In the chruch I went to not all were like this. God convicts us in certin ways. This to me and my wife, is (like) a way of living.Mija said:our standards are these: no tv, no going to theatres, ladies must wear skirts or dresses at all times, no jewlery, no movies. and if people are not following these standards well thats not good. but sometimes i feel some are acting as though by having all the standards that it will make them better in God's eyes. does what i am saying make sense?
You couldn't get more full gospel than Jesus. Now if some of the denominations you mention want to teach a lesser gospel than Jesus, than the ones who want the lot cant be held responsible for those who dont.Jim M said:Being a Pentecostal (which, BTW, is an unbiblical identity) may be well and good providing you are not exclusivist in your use of the term and look on those who are not as being less than you or in some way deficient. The term full gospel, which some Pentecostals prefer, infers that those who are not full gospel are somehow lacking i.e., they are not full. What are they, 1/2-gospel?1/4? 5/8? What? Does being full gospel mean that you have nothing left to learn? Is Pentecostal better than, say, Baptist or Methodist?
What is your point with this thread?
What if I told you I am an ex-Pentecostal? Would that change your opion of me?

I'm glad you're holy in your own eyes. That's great, it means a whole bunch less crime in the world, but I do have to ask you a favor. For those of us who are older, could you please use a larger type when you post?Christian Dude said:I'm pentecostal... I believe in the 5-fold ministry, the gifts of the Spirit (including tongues)...
Now some pentecostals do say they are Full Gospel may not be so.I personally don't believe a woman has to have long hair and a guy short hair.
I think when Paul said that he was referring to his time and age.
Anyways, I love being pentecostal... Never understood what Bapticostal was but have heard of it.
But to be honest I will tell you something God has dealt with me on lately...
Don't be conformed to Doctrine but believe in the Word and what God reveals to you through the Spirit of Holiness & Truth!
Trust me it's a toughie to get through but God's perfecting me through the Refiner's Fire.

I do not doubt it, kspchemist, but even dear people can be legalists.kspchemist said:I am Pentecostal-Holiness! Y'all think that wearing skirts and no tv or movies is strict? I know people who don't believe in the internet. I believe they don't have computers either, but they are some of the dearest people you'll ever meet.
