To [hopefully] satisfactorily answer the question:
The word "Pentecostal" is belonging unto denominational trappings, group associations, and basically the "establishment", as it were, of the organized system of that kind of a church body. To be "Pentecostal" is to look toward the heritage of Azusa Street, and the move of the Spirit that came out of it, and to have close association denominationally with like-minded churches.
The word "Charismatic" has NOT to do with denominations and church structures, but has more to do with the teachings and practices which were introduced into the post-WWII healing revivals beginning about 1947 or so. "Charismatic", which consists of the aforementioned teachings and practices can go across denominational lines [including Roman Catholicism, etc], whereas "Pentecostal" tends more to denominational structures.
So essentially, "Pentecostal" is about history and structure [within the framework of the results of Azusa] and began in 1906. Likewise essentially, "Charismatic" is in accordance with what was produced in the healing revivals, and began post-WWII.
Pentecostal is about an establishment.
Charismatic is about a lifestyle and a doctrine.
