Pencil Sketch Practice

This was basically a practice to help me start to learn the graphics tablet I've got and some of the gimp tools I haven't really experimented with.
The picture was created using just the pencil tool set to colour black and pressure set to opacity, I then used the smudge, blurr and erase tools to try and add some depth to the image.
The image was created using gimp.
Cheated a little bit, because I download a photo into gimp to use as datum for the shape and shading of the image.

Good sketch. I took a class on computer art in high school over 10 years ago but now all I do is traditional art. Faces, portraits, are the hardest to draw.
