The Presbyterian Church (USA) is one step closer to requiring clergy candidates to be asked about their views on sexual orientation and gender identity, in a measure some believe will target theological conservatives.

Known as the “Olympia Overture” after the presbytery from which it came, the proposal was divided into two parts, both of which were passed by commissioners at the 226th General Assembly on Wednesday.

Also known as POL-01, the overture will next go to the presbyteries for ratification, with the two parts of the measure being presented separately to the regional bodies for consideration.

I can’t say I’m surprised. Just like the Episcopal Church, there is going to be some clergy and congregations that will remain conservative on these issues.

When will this LG TV stuff end? I do not want LG TV ideologies invading church.
Most mainline Protestant sects, if not all, accept it.

This was never the case a decade ago. See how much the rainbow community has messed up mainline Protestants in just two years?

Agreed. Notice how the LG TV movement and gay church stuff really took off in America? This is one of the reasons I do not celebrate America anymore on the 4th of July. The pride movement is also idolatry of the worst degree.

In Matthew 5:34, Jesus says "But I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne. Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool." This verse emphasizes the importance of avoiding making oaths, even if it means losing an opportunity to boast about oneself or one's nation.

Exodus 20:4 states "You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the sea."

These two verses remind us that true devotion should be directed away from material possessions or human constructs. Fervent patriotism, as well as LGBT pride can also become an idol, leading us astray from the truth. Let us strive to approach all things with humility and gratitude for what God has given us, rather than becoming overly attached to worldly values and beliefs. These words from above are the reasons why I do not celebrate the 4th or sing any anthems or say any pledge.

And yes, guys are handsome, but I do not want to lust over them, and I will only marry a woman, cos of what the Bible says.

1 Timothy 1:8-11 (ESV): "Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted."

If they could be messed up they were messed up already.
Agreed. Well, luckily, the Catholic faith and Orthodox denominations have not been messed up entirely yet. Also, non-denominational is doing alright (for now).

A decade ago it was less common, but "never the case" isn't quite right. The Episcopal Church had a gay bishop 20 years ago, and allowed gay priests for almost a decade prior. And I think the UCC had gay ministers as far back as the 1970s, and their first open and affirming congregation in the 1980s. ELCA had a gay bishop more than a decade ago. PCUSA has allowed ordination of openly queer folks for more than a decade as well.

Things have been changing for much longer than just 2 years.

Whether you view this as positive or negative depends on your perspective.

True. Sorry about that, but it has really blown up since 2022 or so.
