  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

PCOS Question

Hi.... I'm a newbie here. I am not actually trying to conceive at the moment but I thought this might be a good place to post my question. I think I might have PCOS. In the last 13 months I have only gotten my period once. I went for my physical two days ago and the dr sent me for blood tests and an ultrasound to get to the bottom of it. I went yesterday and the ultrasound tech asked me if I have polycystic ovaries. She said I have a whole bunch of little eggs, none large enough to cause ovulation. I didn't think I did because I have children so obviously I have ovulated on my own. However, she said that doesn't matter... I could still have it. I also suffer from severe depression, acne, and in recent months I've gained weight but I attributed that to antidepressants. Now I'm wondering if I could have PCOS. I have always been irregular... skipping months at a time between periods. I went on clomid to help me conceive one of my children. For those of you who have PCOS or who know about it, does it sound like I might have it? I've had my hormones tested for irregular periods before and they always came back normal... does that mean I don't have it, or can the androgen production come and go? I'm confused about what this means for me.

Thanks!!!

Hey, generally PCOS is diagnosed as being problems with hormones and/or poly cystic ovaries. The symptoms you describe certainly do sound PCOSish, but you doc should be able to let you know more once you have had test results back. My mum has PCOS and had 4 children without help. Doesn't always mean you'll have issues, but does mean you'll have hormone issues most of hte time.
