  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Be sure to credit AI when copying and pasting AI sources. Link to the site of the AI search, just like linking to an article.

I had paypal. There are fees but it isn't terribly expensive.

You pay money into your paypal account, and then you can pay from that into other people's paypal account. You can withdraw funds from your paypal account into your bank account.

Somehow, someone got into my paypal account and used it to pay someone/themselves $500. I got the money back after some proceedings.
Either someone hacked into my paypal account (and no, i didn't fall for a fake e-mail scam), or it was an employee of paypal. Needless to say, I refuse to use paypal anymore and have terminated my account with them.

You might wanna run a search on google for some articles on paypal, off the top of my head, here's a thread at www.paypalsucks.com allegedly started by an ex-paypal mid-level manager.

http://www.paypalsucks.com/forums/showthread.php?fid=6&tid=1529&old_block=0

Obviously this post is biased, because I'm against paypal, there may be some good articles about paypal out there :)

Does anyone here have/use Paypal? How does it work? Are there any fee's?

There aren't any fees if all you want to do is pay for stuff with a personal account. Now if you want to recieve payments, there are small fees.

I wouldn't use my checnking account, I use my Visa debit, so that way if something goes worng, Visa backs me up, 0% fraud liabilty.

It depends on what you're using it for. It's free for personal money transfer (no credit cards). For personal accounts w/ cc transfer, or auctioneers and merchants, I believe they take a small percentage off of what you earn, plus a tiny fee ($0.30 IIRC). (W/ the business package, the "commission" rate is higher AFAIK.)

(I'm sure you'll get better answers than this one, but just in case...)

No fees - a personal account is free. Just go to http://www.paypal.com/ and sign up for a free account. From the PayPal site:

Just enter the recipient's email address and the amount you wish to send. You can pay with a credit card or checking account.

The recipient gets an email that says "You've Got Cash!" Recipients can then collect their money by clicking a link in the email that takes them to https://www.paypal.com.

Most of the time, it's credit cards, not debit cards, that have low fraud liability.

My one caveat about paypal is that they are essentially spammers, and they have a poor track record of fraud handling and privacy issues. I don't trust them.
