I just got the new POD CD yesterday and my first question is: "where is the gospel?"

None of the lyrics make sense to me - and I don't understand the meaning of any of the art work displayed throughout the CD jacket (with the exception of the celtic trinity symbol that they have sort of adopted to be their trademark). I keep thinking the skulls are supposed to represent martyrs killed for the gospel - but its a stretch I think - anybody out there know?

I love the music - and hearing Phil Kaegey play on a couple of POD tracks was a trip. I'm just not sure what the point of their latest endeavor is. By now its no secret that POD is a Christian band - so why all the mystery and mystique?
One thing that was always so special about POD to me - was that they're music always had a sense of purpose and urgency to share and then defend the gospel. This CD however is just shallow riddles that I can't make any sense out of.

As I already said - it is musically a masterpiece - the new guitarist (from Living Sacrifice) definately adds an awesome element to the band's sound - so I'd definately recommend getting it for that reason alone. You won't find the typical POD rapping on this one - nor is there much screaming in the vocals - but something about the music does grab you and take you in - so check it out - but don't expect much meat on this one. Maybe that's what this CD is for - to spoon feed baby Christians. Or maybe I'm just getting too old....

I haven't bought it yet either, but I'm assume it's a lot like their other albums lyrically. P.O.D. isn't preaching to the choir. They play for an almost 100% secular crowd, and therefore don't like for their lyrics to be in-your-face and preachy. That would immediately turn their crowd off to their music, so I think they've definitely made the right decision considering their audience.

Havn't heard the other songs on the CD. But when I first heard "Sleeping Awake" and "Will you" I was disappointed. That was my initial reaction however. Because now that I have listend to them again a few time, I love these two songs. I hope I get impressed just as much by the other songs on the CD. I really do love this band.

But at the same time, their last CD will be hard to beat.

I watched the PS2 movies and am feeling a little bit better about where POD is going. I actually loved the rap version of "MessenJah." I wish there was a way I could get that version of the song - it was "off the hook."

last time i check P.O.D. is NOT a christian band. They are all 100% christians...saying that to say this..not all their musioc has to be about the gospel. I am a die hard blood bought christian but I am in pharmaceutical sales..sell a drug called Prevacid. Does taht make me bad cause I am not "selling the gosple?" P.O.D. ministers more by their actions than 80% of the big name Christian bands out there.
