I get your point. There is only one way and there are denominations that don't really teach that very strongly. But sometimes when we talk to fellow believers or those that say they are we can come across condescending when we ask the question in a thread such as this. It leads one to believe we are challenging their salvation belief just because they don't believe in literal historical Genesis. Quite frankly I have seen people do exactly that. When that happens you become a bit sensitive to questions of that nature.

The only challenge we as believers can give in another when it comes to our faith is challenging their lifestyle. Are they living for Jesus? Are they living in sin? They Bible talks about that a lot. But it never says anything about the fact that we might not have real salvation if we don't believe in literal historical Genesis.

I do understand the incredulity of course. I don't get it when believers will believe whole heartedly in one part of the Bible but dismiss others. That is why I am here. To challenge that. Not because of their salvation but because it diminishes the word of God and it's authority as truth. Not just to us but to the world as well.

Amen, my view is the same. People post that God's Holy Word in Genesis is allegory because it allows their own ignorance to thrive. They don't study Genesis to see if it is allegory or Fact. It's easy since there are so many denominational views. That's WHY I'm here.

I show that Genesis chapter one is the entire History of the 6 Days of Creation including events which happen AFTER Jesus returns at Armageddon. He will give Christians dominion or rule over EVERY living creature Gen 1:28 including mosquitoes viruses and Angels. He will change EVERY creature, including Lions and Bears, into vegetarians. Gen 1:30 and Isa 11:7

When you can get them to realize this, they realize that the entirety of the rest of the Bible refers BACK to one of God's Days of Creation. This unlocks the mystery and reveals God's Truth that Today is still the 6th Creative Day. God Bless you

My point is simple. Christians tell others how to get to heaven. How else can they produce fruit? To avoid the question, to me, is the sin of omission....or...they just don't know. They can only refer them to the Pastor. Amen?
And, of course, you have no idea in the world why your question was offensive...

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
Cowards try to change the subject.

You just keep telling yourself that. You wouldn't like the reality that Christians all study Genesis.

Then tell us WHY no one has noticed that Gen 1:28-31 is prophecy of future events. Could it be that the theology of ancient men has insured that only by blind faith can one believe the diverse creation stories?

Can one be saved by believing, being baptized in water, joining a Church and living a good life? The subject is How do I get to heaven?

IN the universe where truth actually matters, the subject is:
Paul's presents Genesis as literal and not parable.

I guess that means I'm ignorant. Thank you so much.

I have studied scripture, and based on my studies I have determined that the Genesis creation accounts are allegory. However I'm not going to say that you are ignorant for thinking otherwise. Instead I will repeat what I have said over and over in this thread, that being that you are entitled to your own interpretation of scripture.

Correction: Paul presented Genesis as the Holy Spirit inside him moved him to communicate. 2Pe 1:21 Since the Holy Spirit is the Author or ALL Scripture, ALL of it is literally True. Amen? Amen.

A person cannot help being ignorant of a subject. It's not your fault since you have believed according to the traditions of ancient religious men who could NOT have known God's Truth. 1Co 2:14 God hid His Truth in the discoveries of Science which take place in the last days before Jesus returns. This INSURES that only by faith could one come to know God. ONLY the people of the last days have the increased knowledge to understand what the Holy Spirit told us more than 3k years ago. Dan 12:4

In the last days, God will pour out His Spirit of Truth upon ALL flesh, including atheists, agnostics and unbelievers of all kinds. Joe 2:28 Act 2:17 Then everyone will know that God told us the Scientific Truth in Genesis, thousands of years BEFORE any person could have possibly known the Truth. It's empirical (testable) proof of God. God Bless you

And believing that the Genesis creation accounts are allegories isn't saying that the Genesis creation accounts are not true.

Unless Genesis is literally true, you would still be hunting little animals to take back to the Cave to eat tonight. It's the difference between Humans (descendants of Adam) and the descendants of the common ancestor of Apes. Science has incorrectly confused the sons of God (prehistoric man) with Adam's descendants.

That view also agrees in every way with every discovery of Science and History. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell you. God Bless you
Certainly. As I said, you are entitled to your interpretation.

Are we really entitled to our own interpretation? I guess there is no law that says we can't have our own interpretation. But to take that stance makes scripture useless. Because we cannot use it effectively. Because whatever we say someone else can say something else. This conversation is a prime example. As long as we are entitled to our own interpretation then scripture cannot be used to teach or exhort or be used for sound doctrine. We have no need for teacher or paster or evangelists because interpretation is individualistic. If the bible says don't get drunk I can interpret that anyway I want. Jesus says live my neighbor, but I can interpret what he means any way I want. Love the Lord your God can mean what I want it to mean because interpretation is mine to make. It's a very bad way to look at Scripture.

But that is what you are saying. You are saying it's not true. Do you believe God created the earth in Six days? Do you believe that God formed Adam from the ground and Adam actually existed as described? Do you believe that Eve was actually formed from Adams rib? Do you believe that the snake talked Eve into eating the fruit? Do you believe there was a real honest to goodness tree planted in the garden? If you don't then you are saying Genesis is not true.

We all interpret scripture. You do, I do. As I have said before, Jesus said "this is my body," and the majority of Christians--Catholics, Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran--take that to mean that the bread of Holy Communion is the body of Christ. But we have had people on this thread who have said "well He said that, but He didn't literally mean that," and a minority of Christians do not believe that the bread of Holy Communion is the actual body of Christ. That is interpretation. Interpretation is not ignoring the plain meaning of commands. When Jesus says love your neighbor, believing the opposite--that you should hate your neighbor--is ignoring scripture, not interpreting scripture.

I read the Genesis creation stories as allegory. That doesn't mean that I don't regard them as being true, it means that I don't regard them as being literal history. You are entitled to your own interpretation. Why do you have such a problem with that?

But that is what you are saying. You are saying it's not true.

No, I'm not saying that it is not true. I'm saying that it is allegory.

Do you believe God created the earth in Six days?

Six 24-hour days? No, but I do believe that God created the Earth.

Do you believe that God formed Adam from the ground and Adam actually existed as described?

No, but I do believe that God created human beings.

Do you believe that Eve was actually formed from Adams rib?

No, but of course Genesis 1 tells us that male and female were created simultaneously.

Do you believe that the snake talked Eve into eating the fruit?

Sin entered the world because a talking snake convinced a woman to eat a piece of fruit? No, but I do believe that sin somehow entered the world.

Do you believe there was a real honest to goodness tree planted in the garden?

No.

If you don't then you are saying Genesis is not true.

No, I'm saying that Genesis is an allegory.
