A prominent megachurch pastor is calling on all Americans to follow in the footsteps of the state of Tennessee by participating in a month of prayer and fasting.

During a sermon delivered on Sunday at the California-based megachurch Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, Pastor Jack Hibbs shared with the congregation that Tennessee's Republican Gov. Bill Lee had approved a resolution urging the state's residents to pray for the state and the nation during the month of July, and to “seek God’s hand of mercy [and] healing on Tennessee.”

Hibbs then shared a screenshot of a LifeSite news article reporting that Lee had signed the bill calling for 30 days of prayer and fasting beginning July 1.

I will pray at least. Even though I am not a fan of megachurches, prayer is important regardless of what church one goes to. For myself, prayer happens before breakfast, before leaving for work, before lunch and dinner, and before bed. Also, every time an emergency service vehicle goes by, a short prayer for the ambulance, police or fire truck I try to say.

Made a devotional about prayer a while ago (which discusses Luke 10):

Guys, we should also pray for the persecuted Christians around the globe this July, and pray that no persecution of Christians ever happens in the US and beyond. Let this summer be a summer of prayer, and once we have that habit, let's make it a lifetime of prayer.

Catholic Prayer: Traditional Prayers for Persecuted Christians | Latin Mass Society
Almighty, everlasting God, look with compassion on all those who suffer persecution for justice’ sake. Grant them grace to carry their cross with patience in the name of Thy beloved Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Let the chalice pass from them is such by Thy holy Will: yet, in all things, may Thy Will be done. Grant to those who persecute, light to see the truth, and the grace of mercy and forgiveness, for they know not what they do. Mary, Mother of Jesus, Comfort of the Afflicted, help thy children in their time of bitter trial. O Lord our God, by the sign of Thy holy cross deliver us from our enemies.

Protestant (Lutheran) Prayer: https://www.bethlehemhermiston.org/prayers.html
Heavenly Father, in the midst of our sufferings for the sake of Christ grant us grace to follow the example of the first martyr, Stephen, that we also may look to the One who suffered and was crucified on our behalf and pray for those who do us wrong; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Pastor in India was persecuted for his Christian faith: Pastor persecuted in India refuses to stop preaching

Summary:
Shailesh (pseudonym used), a pastor in India, has faced persecution and violence due to his Christian faith. Despite being born into a devout Hindu family plagued by illnesses, Shailesh converted to Christianity as a teenager after hearing a preacher quote John 14:6*. He continued to preach the Gospel and founded a church, facing opposition from his family and community.

Earlier this year, Shailesh and his family were attacked by a mob upon returning from a trip to visit friends. The mob beat and injured Shailesh and his family, leaving him in critical condition for 10 days. Miraculously, Shailesh recovered and returned to his church, determined to continue his ministry. He compared himself to Lazarus, saying that the life he received was for doing more for the Lord.

Despite the persecution he has faced, Shailesh remains committed to following the Great Commission found in Matthew 28 and spreading the Gospel in his community. He finds comfort in the promise that Jesus will be with him always. The article ends by inviting readers to pray for Shailesh, his family, and his church.

*John 14:6 (NIV): "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I have to admit I'm not sure the story of pastor urges people to pray is newsworthy, in so much that such an article could be written about a multitude of pastors over many centuries. But if it inspires people who want to see an overall increase in prayer then so be it.

Why is a state legislature passing resolutions based on religious activity? It has no business doing that.

I'm perfectly capable of praying without the government telling me to.

I pray without the government telling me also, especially for persecuted Christians and those who struggle in life. :) But it is wholesome how July could be a month of deep prayer. If this resolution causes even 1% of the population to pray more, that extra 1% could go many miles (kilometers) in spreading peace in this dark world. But, I do see your point.

Here is fasting according to YHVH...Isaiah 58:6-12; Matthew 25:31-46...now do it and support all efforts that strive to achieve it

Alright, here is a link to these two passages. I sadly do not fast that much, as I am a small guy, but yes, fasting is important. For myself, I need to do a tech fast, which means getting away from TV and computer, but it can be difficult.
