Who watches Pastor Arnold Murray, of Shepherds Chapel? His show is pretty well watched in my area. Personally, I think he's way out to lunch. Yesterday on his show, he delared that the beast would be the king of Babylon, that the 10 kings of the beast are not earthly, but angelic, that Christians will always be rescued during tribulation, and that's just what he said yesterday!

I hope I am not thinking of the same guy. Is he really old fashioned and he answers questions from letters, and there is old fashioned music.??
Perhaps. He has an American flag behind him, and eagle statues beside him on his desk. He frequently says beloved. The name of the show is Shepherds Chapel. He answers letters during the second half of his show. I've heard him say during one reply, that he thought the disciples helped Judas to kill himself. God knows whether or not he's saved, yet he's clearly full of false teachings.

The other day, I heard his show declare that the mark of the beast would not be a real mark. The following may help http://www.mission.org/jesuspeople/arnmuray.htm I've yet to read the whole thing.

when I was active on another debate platform, I ran into some "Murrayites"... SCARY people!
I'm very careful who I speak about - but these folks severely lacked love. In fact, they seemed to ENJOY banging the gavel & sentencing the unsaved to a tormentuous eternity in hellfire.

It's not a doctrine that any Christian should seem to revel in... Jesus sure didn't! We're supposed to love others enough to try to keep them from that place, not salivate at the thought of God sending them there!

They also seemed to focus ONLY on being "watchmen" from Ezekiel - they lacked alot of the gospel message to be more into pounding their fists of wrath for the judgment to come & "turn or burn" type mentality.

I also have watched the show & I think it's scary. I say, RUN FAST!.

WOW, I only seen the show once and I had an excellent feeling about it, but I never heard of this before. FIGURES just when I think that there is hope of a good tv evangelist, I am let down once again. yug.

Well to be fair, I can't speak for all people that follow him closely - I only knew of a handful & they were extremely spiritually dysfunctional. No doubt there are problem people who follow all kinds of decent teachers.
Maybe others aren't like these few?

I'd just be real careful following this man's teachings - I was also told he didn't believe in the trinity? Maybe someone else knows more about that than I do & can confirm that.

I watched the show last night, actually, it was very early in the morning (he answered a letter, saying that someone had cut open Judas' dead body -Where does he get this stuff? The verse he referenced, had nothing to do with Judas), and as a Christian, I like that he reads from the bible, and puts the words on the screen. I can see why the show would sort of appeal to Christians. However, with the false doctrines he inserts here and there, to a non Christian, it would be deadly.

You can find out a lot about him on the internet. He once threatened an audience member with a gun...there is a tape you can listen too. He preaches that Eve had sex with the serpent and that Cain is their offspring. He also says he was with Jesus in heaven before being born and that he was a general in the war in heaven. The guy is seriously out to lunch and dangerous.

I watched his show at 4AM this morning. What a nut! His ministry sounds innocent, it's called Shepherd's Chapel, his name is doctor Arnold Murray, he says nice things about Jesus, yet, yesterday he basically taught reincarnation.

He says, for instance, that in Jeremiah, where God says before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, means that certain people existed in a previous earth age, and then he makes fun of Christians who believe in a young earth, and calls them deceived.

He's a prominent figure on t.v. , and that makes me sick.

I think he's racist, too. I remember coming upon his show one time and he was showing clips of outings out to petroglyphs, looking for evidence of 'ogam', celtic languages, etc, showing that others were in America besides Native Americans. I got interested in the petroglyph thing, but then realize he was this weird preacher and didn't pay much attention to his teachings, etc after that. Also, the double headed eagle behind him is very much an illuminati masonic symbol. He's telling other masons he's one of them.

One of the things I LOVE about this man is his need to learn for himself.

He's not locked into dogma. This old hillbilly guy has learned six languages and has revealed many bad translations within the English translations.

One of them has to do with the word for apple. He purports that the word apple that they used was actually an euphemism for sexual knowledge in it's day.

Combine that with the fact that it says that first was Cain and then she continued in birth to deliver Abel. Medically, two father twins are possible.

So, he believes that satan came to Eve, had sex with her, (shared the tree of knowledge) then she called Adam over and had sex with him.

Later she gave birth to twins, each from a different father. And when you think about it. It's kinda beautiful. The good and evil struggle. The whole test. Starting right at the source what brought it upon us. There is a balance to that.

Weather I believe this or not is inconsequential. The fact that this man is a monster of knowledge about the bible. And more importantly, about the original bible in it's original text, is nothing to be scoffed at.

Furthermore, he's an archeologist. He was one waaaaay before the church realized that the earth is a little older than they had previously thought. :)

He's a militant, who cares not what anybody thinks of him. He was out there digging in the rocks while everybody else was wondering what he was doing. They would literally ridicule him for that. Seems he was dead on about that one, huh? And everybody called this guy a kook. They couldn't understand the conflict. But for him, there was no conflict. All he wanted was the truth. Whatever it may be. EVEN IF IT HURT HIM.

So, when someone flippantly makes ruse of this guys teachings, they cancel themselves out to all the really cool stuff that he does reveal.

Also, rather that say something like "This guy's a nut... he says this, or that." Try actually going to the verses he quotes IN THEIR ORIGINAL TEXT and intelligently challenge him. Otherwise, you've contributed nothing.

I'm all for that. But this TOE THE LINE attitude about learning the bible is counterproductive. There are places where this man is an invaluable source of information.

If a person wants to appear more intelligent than another. They must demonstrate why. Not just quote what someone else says, call him an idiot, and hope your peers agree. That's the ping pong way to lern. Just bouncing stuff off each other and go with what sticks.

IF HE'S WRONG, BE INTELLIGENT AND TELL US WHY.

This also reinforces my belief that NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE STUDY THE BIBLE FOR THEMSELVES. Alone...you and the bible.

While I don't purport all that Arnold Murray has to say. I will not cast him off as a source of other jems. And I will not discount what he says without a Strong's Concordance. Much better than just "seein what my friends think."

Which leaves me with this.... My soul is my responsibility. When I get to the judgment I can't say..."but Lord, he told me this, or that"

Because he will just respond with...."But I gave you the Bible and all the tools as well."

One last thing that I find odd about the whole apple=sex thing.

One of the most fastidious things about the bible is the family lineage. You know, that part we all skip at the beginning of the chapter? :)

Well, I don't seem to be able to find Cain's name anywhere amongst Adam's linage. Abel's in there, but no Cain. Hmmmmm

Another little tidbit, the Greek New Testament says "he was from the wicked one" referring to Cain.

I've watched his show several times. Regularly? No! Like any other preacher you have to take from the teachings that which the Holy Spirit agree's with. At least this is how I take in any sermon. The letters at the end are interesting, however I am not going to follow any man, nor am I going to judge them.

Peace in HIM,
