• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Partial-birth abortion is a disgusting, cruel procedure performed in the U.S.A. on innocent babies when the mothers are 20 weeks (4.5 months) to six or seven months pregnant, sometimes even later. Many people believe that the anesthesia given to the mother before the abortion painlessly kills the baby or keeps the baby from feeling the procedure, but this is simply untrue: the baby is alive, aware and experiencing great pain. During the procedure all of the baby's body except for the head is delivered to ensure a "legal" abortion. If the head is not inside the mother's body, it is legally considered murder. The fact that these few undelivered inches prevents the baby from being regarded as a human life and denies him or her the right to not be savagely killed is sickening.

I found the article below and a diagram of what happens to the--to use a phrase from Pastor Rod Parsley--"almost born" baby during the partial-birth abortion procedure at abortioninfo.net:

[In September, 1993, Brenda Pratt Shafer, a registered nurse with thirteen years or experience, was assigned by her nursing agency to an abortion clinic. Since Nurse Shafer considered herself "very pro-choice," she didn't think this assignment would be a problem. She was wrong. This is what Nurse Shafer saw:

" I stood at the doctor's side and watched him perform a partial-birth abortion on a woman who was six months pregnant. The baby's heartbeat was clearly visible on the ultrasound screen. The doctor delivered the baby's body and arms, everything but his little head. The baby's body was moving. His little fingers were clasping together. He was kicking his feet. The doctor took a pair of scissors and inserted them into the back of the baby's head, and the baby's arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks that he might fall. Then the doctor opened the scissors up. Then he stuck the high-powered suction tube into the hole and sucked the baby's brains out. Now the baby was completely limp. I never went back to the clinic. But I am still haunted by the face of that little boy. It was the most perfect, angelic face I have ever seen."]

In 2003 President George W. Bush signed the bill to ban partial-birth abortion, but was overruled by a liberal judge. Pastor Rod Parsley has started a petition to uphold the ban on partial-birth abortion. This is a paragraph that I retrieved from his website:

[The Supreme Court of the United States has set a Nov. 8 hearing date for two cases, Gonzales v. Carhart and Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood — to decide once and for all if the 2003 federal law banning partial-birth abortion is constitutional. Now is the time for all of God’s people to make their voices heard! Please read this petition to the U.S. Supreme Court and complete the form below to electronically add your name. Your signature will be added to thousands of others and delivered to the court for maximum impact]

If you are a U.S. citizen please, please sign this petition, and help to put a stop to the torture and gruesome murders of innocent babies across the United States.

Here is a direct link to the petition: https://www.centerformoralclarity.net/PBAPetition.aspx

Although I vigorously support this legislation, I am afraid I cannot sign the petition.
You see it is legislature’s duty to craft law with the publics input, it is the courts duty to rule on a matter solely on the law and the case before it, not swayed by public opinion.
If justices neglect to do their constitutional duty to uphold clear laws lawfully passed, then those justices should be removed and replaced with ones that will. But we should not ask the justices to fulfill their duty by forsaking it.

This is so cruel, I loved children all my life and each time a natural disaster strikes, my heart goes all out to the little children who are suffering.

Even abortions done on babies at week 11, they are able to feel the pain, I have read this somewhere.

Just something to share, I have read "Heaven Is So Real" and the Jesus told the author that children aged 7 and below, whether they were born or not, or whether they are believers, Jesus will bring them to Heaven.

These unwanted babies are now in Heaven.....

Reasons to have this procedure, from Wikipedia:

IDX, along with dilation and evacuation (D&E), early induction of labor, and rare procedures such as saline abortions, are only used in the late stages of pregnancy. Late-term abortions are uncommon, with abortions at 21 weeks or later accounting for only 1.4% of all abortions in the USA.[13] Intact D&X procedures are used in approximately 15% of late-term abortion cases. This calculates to between 2,500 and 3,000 per year, using data from the Alan Guttmacher Institute for the year 2000. They are typically performed between the twentieth and twenty-fourth week of gestation.[14]
Women choose to have late-term abortions for a variety of reasons, such as not knowing they were pregnant earlier in the pregnancy and diagnosis of a fetal abnormality late in the pregnancy. Once the decision to have a late-term abortion has been made, a woman or doctor may choose IDX over other available late-term abortion procedures because:
* The woman does not have to experience labor.
* The woman does not have to undergo abdominal surgery.
* The procedure results in a largely intact body the parents may grieve over.[8]
* Sharp instruments are inserted into the uterus fewer times than in a D&E abortion.
* The fetus may have hydrocephalus, where the head may expand to a radius of up to 250% of a normal skull at birth, making it impossible for it to pass through the cervix. If live birth is desired, the physician may drain the excess fluid in utero using a syringe, or a caesarian section with a larger than usual incision can be used. If abortion is desired, D&X may be the simplest procedure.
Reasons a woman or physician may not choose IDX, opting instead for another abortion procedure, include:
* IDX requires a larger dilation of the cervix than D&E.
* Podalic version (turning the fetus into a breech position) can be dangerous to the woman.
* The incision in the fetal skull is made blind; the physician may miss and injure the woman's cervix.

When you look at all forms of abortion, this one is no more inhumane or disgusting than any other. Rather than single out this procedure the push should be (imo) to reduce or eliminate late term abortions of any method. Late term a fetus has reached viability and anything that arises (health of the mother, fetal defect, etc.) are overruled. Virtually any late term abortion needed due to health of the mother could instead be an induced pregnancy. Of course, I am not a doctor and can't say there is NEVER a case where abortion is necessary to save the mother's life and live birth will not suffice. I'd have to leave that avenue open.

I've done my studies on Abortion. I even watched videos on such things.

People no longer value human life anymore, but Big Fat $!

That is what comes out of these procedures.

You are exactly right! That is why abortion will be "legal" until the Messiah comes back. Bush is not pro-life (he bows to the big corporations). Since he has been in office MORE of our tax money is going to Planned Parenthood than in anytime in our history. Plus that Partial Birth Abortion ban was a HUGE deception that fooled so many Christians and made them spend their money and time fighting a bill that would not have saved one life! That is right! It wouldn't have saved one life! Most people are lazy and ignorant. They did not read the bill for themselves. Here it is, read it for the first time (after you already spent your time and money to support it).

Here is an article that was posted from National Right to Life's website on Nov 5, 2003 (the day the President signed the bill)...
http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/pba/PBAall110403.html

Here is the bill posted on that same article:
http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/pba/partial_birth_abortion_Ban_act_final_language.htm

In this bill, "Roe vs Wade" was removed, but the definition remained the same:

1) the term `partial-birth abortion' means an abortion in which the person performing the abortion--

`(A) deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until, in the case of a head-first presentation, the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or, in the case of breech presentation, any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is outside the body of the mother, for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows will kill the partially delivered living fetus;

Did you catch that? If just part of the head comes out, then they could still kill the baby and it would be legal under that law. The baby could already have his nose outside smelling the air for the first time, and it would still be legal to suck out it's brain. Or in a breach birth, they can have the legs out and still suck out it's brain. All they would do is adjust their procedures. And if the baby 'slips' where the navel is outside the body of the mother...no big deal, they still can suck out the brain because the bill said, "deliberately and intentionally".

The legislation was carefully crafted with the very intention of getting itself overturned in the courts, all the legislation needed to do was to have a clause in it permitting it to save the mother and it would have stood up, but the clause was intentionally left out so that any competent court would have no choice but to overturn the law.

I cannot believe that a clause cannot be authored that would protect the lives of women from things that sometimes happen during delivery such as in a breach birth where the head of the child cannot be delievered and avoid the ability of people to get partial birth abortions through some desire to avoid scars or not be inconvenienced by a child.

I do not see it as prolife to write legislation that could kill women. Or make a doctor who does what is necessary to save one life instead of losing two a murderer.

The whole issue as it has evolved has very little to do with a right to life and everything to do with getting the power to appoint judges.

Under Roe v Wade the power of the government to regulate or even outlaw late term abortions is clear, why not instead of playing politics do they not write legislation that would stand up and thus protect the children.

The people who wrote the legislation intending that it would be overturned traded the lives of children for their own political gains. Think about that.

Watching the news, just saw a report on the p-birth abortion etc. hearing today. Not to many details though. I dont know if they have made their decision yet. I would think it would take them a few days to decide. Mentioned something about an outburst, first time in years that that has happened in the supreme court or something. The report was so fast I barely caught it.

Hope to have more info soon,
