  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wait a minute, are you suggesting there is not a single pro-choice parent on the planet?
Agreed,
each of us is 'pro-choice', as in: 'Choose ye this day whom ye will serve'. Yet, for me & my household, we will serve GOD/Christ:thumbsup:

Perhaps you are conflating "pro-choice" with "pro-abortion" or "anti-baby". People who are pro-choice think that women have a right to control whether have children or not, pro-choice is not the same thing as saying that no women should have children.
so
Population-control, 'mass:eek:scale', is good? - and 'whose' Ultimate desired outcome is fed by
that?, pray tell.

May I ask, what 'desperate medical reason' you agreed to an abortion for?

I have a feeling that if I give details either you or someone else will just slam me for it regardless. Happens almost every time.

Trust me, it wasn't something I wanted to do. I was between a rock and a hard place and miserable to boot, an in no condition to continue a pregnancy which was going horribly wrong.

In that case, then everyone (except those raped) are "pro-choice" because they all have the choice or not to have sex. We certainly have the choice whether or not to follow God. So, isn't life full of choices (wrong or right)? The choice has always been there for us. The righteous decision is what is in question for the Christian as well as the responsibility.

Hi Chajara -
Was your own 'physical-life hanging, literally' in the balance? -

Trust me, I'm only asking because I have counseled more than 1 woman who, years down that road, found she either had a very difficult time 'conceiving', or worse yet started 'cancering' in either uterus, breast, & elsewhere. And I sure don't want anything like that to happen to any more people, if you know what I mean.
So, in the after-math of this abortion choice, it's very important you follow inside your soul/mind deeply:) a healthy Forgiveness-process, ok. Be well:wave:

I wasn't quite on the verge of death, but my weight dropped to around 96 pounds and I couldn't eat because I was so incredibly ill. I guess what happened was when the pregnancy hormones started flowing, my body decided to mutiny. I've never felt so incredibly horrible and ill in my life. When the brunt of it hit around 5 PM I'd barely be able to lift my head. I'd have a huge migraine headache, no energy, and I'd randomly start dry heaving (though I never actually threw up because there was never anything in my stomach anyway.) I missed quite a bit of school and my grades dropped, and this is all because I was a moron and decided to have sex.

In any event, since I was unable to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls of food a day, it's rather unlikely that the pregnancy would have continued much longer. It was decided that the best course would be to abort while it would still be a relatively minor procedure rather than wait until the pregnancy got to a later stage and have the baby die, and then have to deal with getting it out of me before it caused even more problems.

All in all, a sucky situation. And now I get to worry about whether or not it'll happen again later on in life when I have children with my future husband.

I'm opposed to partial birth abortions so long as the life of the mother is not at risk. I'm all for giving proto-humans rights, so long as it's after the first trimester and it doesn't put the life of the woman at risk.

Life has a tendancy to get complicated... abusive relationships, extreme poverty, drug abuse/adiction, rape. There are plenty of situations where intercourse happens when it shouldn't. A sperm and an egg meet up and they start doing thier magic, this should always be viewed as something sacred. Situations where women feel the need to get an abortion should not happen, but they do.

I believe that most "pro-lifers" are misdirecting thier energy. Instead of picketing outside an abortion clinic, put your time and energy into the source of the problem. Look at the demographics, if someone uses drugs are they more likely to have an abortion, if they are in poverty, if they are in an abusive relationship with kids and can't afford to leave? Even these women, I'd like to see putting thier children up for adoption, I just can't see forcing them when thier life is already spinning out of control. That would be forcing them out of safe clinics and into back alleys so that some butcher can use a coat hanger. I disagree with thier choice, and I'm willing to increase restrictions however I refuse to completly remove it.
