yes "part" of it has "apparently" been leaked. i doubt there will be much anyone can do with only a miniscule part of it.

Yeah! I hate Mircosoft! I wanna see the code. I mean come on what's the big deal? I've seen the code for the whole Linux Kernel, and Mandrake, RedHat, and others don't seem to be suffering becasue of it.

Opensource will take over. You software will become opensorce weather you want it to or not!

i know im going to get flamed for this, but i like windows only 2000 pro and XP pro, as so far they have been the most stable, and i have never had a problem with them. i think most of the people who bag M$ havnt even tried their new products.
i will agree that anything before 2000 was junk! plain and simple, all of them were very hard to work with, and crashed at the drop of a hat.
but hey thats just my opinion.

I can honestly say I have used there new stuff. I'm running a dual boot system of Mandrake Linux 9.2 and Windows XP home. I also run Slackware Linux 9.1 on my laptop. Sure, Windows XP may be more stable, and I have left it running for 3 days withouth crashing, but all the power is in Linux. With Linux you know EXACLTY what is happening because you have the source. Micro$oft hides the source becasue they KNOW it is buggy and trojaned. I bet they put most of the security holes in on porpouse.

yep agreed linux is far more stable than windows (thats why i use it on my server) but ive had XP pro running for nearly 3months straight (yes continously) and have not had a single problem, its a bit laggy, but thats due to me not having enough ram (only have 256 at the moment and XP should really be run on 512)

I don't know, maybe they are scared people will see all the backdoors in the os, or how to get past the registration, which any self respecting reverse engineer could do without it...

runnin xp home atm i leave my computer on weeks at a time, ive honestly only seen the blue screen of death 1 or 2 times since ive used it, almost a year now, and thats only cause i built it and was foolin around with different settings and such, the normal crashes hehe, but nothing too unstable from actual windows, im actually slightly impressed, unlike with ME.....ugh

Yeah, I use them both too. I bought the Mandrake Linux 9.2 PowerPack, and I'm pleased with that. I also use Slackware Linux 9.1 and that works nicely too. I haven't tried out the 2.6.0 kernel yet though... I don't feel like configuruing and compling a new kernel... Not today anyway. Maybe I can install the offical Mandrake one. Now I'm just rambaling...

While the Win NT line might be more stable than the old Win 9x line (not a hard feat), it still isn't near Unix/Linux for reliability. At an old job I ran a couple Win2k servers as network admin. One server (email) had to be periodically rebooted because Exchange would just stop working for some inexplicable reason. The other server had active directory on it, which died badly just shortly after I left the company.

While Win2k (and other M$ products) might be stable for the joe user, I wouldn't recommend it for anything critical.

OTOH, I've had nothing but good experiences with Linux. My Linux web/file server (running on an old P166; try doing that M$) has been humming away for well over a year with nary a glitch.

I have Win ME, I hate it, but with only 32 meg of memory and 233 mhz Pc, I can't use Win 2000 or XP, I've try to put back Win 98 but it's refuse to do so, btw, any tricks so I can put back Win 98 ?

And about the Window source code, the problems are maby because of the virus makers can find more way's to do worse virus by studying the source codes.

I love my Win2k3 Small Business Server.

Install went really smooth (and I mean, really smooth), and I haven't had a single problem since the box was turned on 2 months ago.

Although I must confess, I never used Windows until NT/2000 came out (I was a linux freak) so perhaps my blood has not been tainted by the horrible 9x days.
