yes, I'll be right backjustinhulsey said:The only place I know of to find the 3 year breakdown is http://www.torahresource.com/parasha.html . Does anyone know of a better site?
That chart is really confusing.Henaynei said:The Triennial Reading of the Torah - with holiday readings
This is another site - may be not better, may be so??

That list seems to have the cycle ending in March. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the triennial schedule also end on Simchat Torah, just every third year?Zemirah said:Here's where TL found the 3-year cycle... It's a PDF file, and I can't say whether it's better or not eitherBut I'll throw it out here just in case...

So, instead of reading the entire thing in order, you'd only read that little section of Bereshit before moving on to the year 2 section of Noach. Or am I just totally confused?Henaynei said:LOL if you let your eyes focus it really is not so bad. It is just not set up in a table all nice and columnizied - LOL
Each weekly reading is listed by it's Name
Which in this case also happens to be the name of the book as it is the first reading in the book of Bereshit/Genesis.
Next it tells you the complete reading for the year in tyhe cycle - say year #2
Then it lists the breakdown of the 8 aliyot
Bereshit
year 1 1:1 2:3 year 2 2:4 4:26 year 3 5:1 6:8
1 1:1 1:5 2:4 2:9 5:1 5:5
2 1:6 1:8 2:10 2:19 5:6 5:8
3 1:9 1:13 2:20 2:25 5:9 5:14
4 1:14 1:19 3:1 3:21 5:15 5:20
5 1:20 1:23 3:22 3:24 5:21 5:24
6 1:24 1:31 4:1 4:18 5:25 5:31
7 2:1 2:3 4:19 4:26 5:32 6:8
Maftir 2:1 2:3 4:23 4:26 6:5 6:8

Yes, you read the year one section of each weekly reading all year long, then the second year you read the year two section for ear week, and in year three you read the year three section for each week, finishing the Torah cycle on Simchat Torah of the third year.justinhulsey said:So, instead of reading the entire thing in order, you'd only read that little section of Bereshit before moving on to the year 2 section of Noach. theo only other way per tradition is the one year cycle - in this format I think that is just way too much to try to fully discuss and study each week - but lets see what others think!!justinhulsey said:Not that I'm complaining, but it strikes me as odd to read a portion, skip a portion, etc.
My dear Yafet and community,simchat_torah said:Considering that we all follow the 1 year Torah cycle at our synagogues/congregations/homes/etc... doesn't it make more sense that we could discuss what we've studied or heard read on Shabbat?
To me, it is going to be rather difficult, not to mention time consuming, for us to have one parsha for home/synagogue and a different one for here on the forums.
With this in mind, wouldn't you rather go to the one year cycle?
