Hey,
Just wanted you all to know that we were featured in Parents Magazine August issue on page 80. We were also in Consumers Diegest in July. I cannot believe how big Parents for Window Blind Safety has gotten in 2 years.
Praise the Lord for His strength, for without it, I would be nothing and could do nothing.

Please post your website! I'm freaked out about window blinds after hearing about your loss. My wife is due in September and there are blinds in the baby's room. I'm freaked and need to know what to do with 'em...

I hope to force the indusrty to have public service annoucements about ALL the dangers of window blinds. As of now, there are more corded window treatments on the market today that can kill than there were 5 years ago. We are pushing for madatory safety standards but the CPSC won't change them from voluntary to mandatory. This means the indusrty can do whatever they want.
Its sad, but God's hand is in this, there is no doubt in my mind. I average about 15,000 hits a month on the site.
Praise the LORD!

I can't take that site. I read a couple and that's all I can handle for now.

wow gel, that is some unsettling information. how very sad that the industry is allowed to continue so unsafely.

is that your own website that you started? it is very well organized and informative.

i have a cousin who just delivered twins this week. i will be emailing the link to the site to her for sure! my children are all teens now, and i was only vaguely aware that there could be a problem with blinds. i had (and still have) blinds in all of their rooms since birth. that's frightening to think about.

are there any kinds of blinds that can be safely used? (maybe this info is on the website--i didn't read every single thing on it yet). what kinds of window coverings are considered the safest? (again, if this is on the website, just direct me to it)

Yes we founded Parents for Window Blind Safety.
I cannot take all the credit on the site. My friend helped me and I have another friend who is our graphic artist. He is now working on animations for the site.
Anything that does not have cords is safe. Anything with cords that is more than 7 1/4 inch in lenght can strangle a child. If you hold up a ruler, that is not very long. It does not take much.
