Parenting question, advice requested

Oddly enough,... I already have an idea of how much time, dedication, and patience it takes in raising a child,....

I am having a lot of fun getting my nephew "in trouble",... hehe... That's what uncles are for, right?

I don't think it's odd that you would already have an idea of what it takes to raise children. I think it's awesome that you spend time with your nephew and even get him in trouble. I don't think it's just an uncle's job.........I think men in general are still just little kids in big people bodies. I have to yell at my husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, and friend Ron to stop instigating my kids and quit getting them in trouble. Even my friend Erica (who has no children of her own) yells at Ron and my husband for starting with my children. So I think it's just in your nature to be mischevious. I can already see that in my son. He's a riot when he's around his sisters!

I have heard it said that being a stay at home parent is the equivalent of working 2 full time jobs. How right they are. I'm lucky if I get about 4 or 5 hours of sleep a day, and 9 times out of 10 it's interrupted sleep. The rest of the time I'm up doing this, that and the other thing. No wonder I have brain lag all the time.

Tell your daughter that it's a man's world. But just wait for heaven...it's a woman's world there! Seriously, I believe there are more female souls in heaven than male; no offense guys.

Kelly, big hugs to you for taking the time to talk through these things with your daughter! It isn't easy, but she will appreciate it! I wish my mother had taken the time to explain these things in more detail when I was younger -- I got a lot of "It just isn't that simple." (Which is true, but didn't advance my understanding much.)

I know what you mean. I got the same thing from my parents. Wish I knew then what I know now.
