  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sigal Lawson passed away November a year ago, of cancer. After a long life of serving the Lord, as a pastor, a husband, and a father. He was my dad's mom's dad, my great grandpaw. We just called him Pappaw. Around the time of his funeral, my grandma, Sigal's daughter, gave me a Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul book. In it I found a poem to describe my Pappaw perfectly. The title is Golden Heart, by Therese Williamsom.
Golden Heart
God saw you were getting tired
and a cure was not meant to be.
So he put his arms around you
and whispered, "Come with me."
With tearful eyes we watched you
as we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply
we could not make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating,
hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
he only takes the best.

What a lovely quote.

May you and your family be comforted and have healing and strength. May you find comfort in your memories, now and in the days ahead. INJC
