  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I need a topic for my 15-20p Theological Anthropology paper, and I always like to choose topics that will be useful in the future ... often in apologetics. Just a few general themes are Grace, Justification, Original Sin, but it could really have anything to do with the Christian person, ie. Theology of the Body, faith v. works, etc.

What are some pressing issues that you wish someone would tackle?

Predestination and free will

That's nice, Charlie. Something simple. ;)

How about the Nature and Functions of the Priesthood?

Or, the perception of the Nature of the sacraments in contemporary society? Does our materialist, mechanistic, utilitarian mode of thinking hamper our understanding of the sacred mysteries? How does a catechist address these issues?

What exactly is Theological Anthropology?
Well, etymologically:

Theo = God
Anthro = Man
ologoy = Study of

So it's really the study of how God can interact with man. Practically, we use it to discuss some of the fundamental questions in theology.

I took Philosophical Anthropology last semester, and talked about similar topics from the philosophical side = the soul, ensoulment, matter and form, etc.

Sounds interesting. :)

I think the suggestion of the Sacraments is good, since they're the way God chooses to most directly interact with us, and the way He chose to give us grace. It would be a good apologetics topic, too, since many Protestants wonder why we confess to a priest or why we see baptism as necessary.
