  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So ladies I donno what to do and I'm very discouraged.

Last night right before I went to bed I was having bad pains in my tummy... not in one specific location but just all over. My stomach felt bloated and really full. The only way I can describe the pain would be like severe consitpation (though I'm not).

I went to bed and didn't sleep real well because I couldn't get comfortable b/c of the pains in my tummy. So this morning the pain is no worse, but it's not any better either. I'm not throwing up but this morning I did have a really horrible bowl movement. It was black. Like black tar. I have no idea what would have caused this. I ate nothing out of the ordinary, and in fact I wasn't feeling well yesterday afternoon so I left work early.

I'm not entierly sure what to do, but all I know is I can't afford to miss time from work or I'm sure my boss will fire me  I had a very stressful day at work yesterday adn I'm wondering if it's possible that stress is affecting me in some way? I can't imagine stress would make me have pains in my stomach and black tar poop right?

What should I do ladies? I'm trying to get a hold of my OB- I refuse to go to the ER because they'll just do blood tests and send me home. I haven't even seen my OB yet, but I figure she would be the best person to call? Or should I just call my family doctor?

I would def call your doctor!! All though I am seeing a specialist and he told me cramps are normal there like "Growing pains" I get like what your describing and after having a bowl movement the pain goes away! Are you taking prenatal Vitimins? That could cause that!! But def call your doc just to be sure!!! Hope all goes well!!!

I've been feeling that way a lot. I finally realized it was gas from all the dairy. Have you upped your dairy intake?

I seriously thought my intestines were going to crush Peanut. I call my doctor and she said that GasX and Lactaide are both safe during pregnancy.

I hope that you feel better soon!

The black could be from an iron supplement if there is extra iron in your multivitamin.

The pain could be growing pains. Personally I always find that the first trimester hurts.

If worried, I would call the doctor. The advantage of calling the OB over your GP is that your OB will probably have an ultrasound machine in his offices and can check out bubs straight away to put your mind at rest. Whereas the best the GP could do is order blood tests and give you a referral for an ultrasound. The OB will be quicker.

Yeah I would def call your Dr or your OB, the black tar likeness could indicate bleeding from your GIT. (Not to freak you out) if you aren't taking iron supplements.

Have you eaten anything different lately? Do you suffer from indegestion?

But yeah I would call, it may be related to your GIT rather than your bubs.

Hi sweetie, are you still having pain? Have you spoken to your doctor and been in for a visit?

There are a number of reasons for a "black tar like" bowel movement, ranging from non-serious to serious.

Have you been eating any black licorice or black jelly beans... black candy of any kind?

Have you had a change in diet or eaten anything unusual in the last few days?

The more serious reason for a black tar like bowel movement is internal bleeding sweetie, but I don't want you to be frightened unnecesarrily.

If you are still experiencing abdominal pain and you're still having black bowel movements, and/or spotting, then you should probably go to the e.r. hun, rather than waiting for tomorrow. If you have no pain, no spotting, but still have some black tar like bowel movements, I would begin charting what you're eating and drinking. Grape juice can also cause this. Still I think it's good to talk to your doctor. It may have nothing to do with your baby and instead have something to do with your bowels. Do you have IBS, or have you ever had an ulcer? These are things to discuss with your doctor.

Rest in the Lord. I know that you are nervous. It's ok to be nervous, when you're a new mommy-to-be, but remember that the Lord is watching over you and He will take care of you. If you need to talk, you know there are many here who care, so you are not alone.

Yeah, for me that was one of the perks of being pregnant...I had a stomach flu like 3 or 4 times (on top of morning sickness until 6 months or better).

Candice...I am SOOO GLAD you got to see baby! Makes it a little more real, doesn't it??? Hoooray for you!!!
