  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i have a confession to make ~ Wednesday morning i woke up with another migraine, i felt sick and was determined that i would go to Mass that night and receive the ashes upon my forehead....in addition to tablet medication i used a new product that has recently come on to the market in the UK, it's called 'forehead' and you rub it over your..you guessed it...forehead....anyway, eventually the pain subsided significantly and i got ready to go to Mass. I went up for the ashes, and my daughter was directly behind me in the line . Later as we left church my daughter said "Mum, what was in those ashes, my forehead's really stinging!'...then it dawned on me that i had been using this medicated stick thing all day and though i had had a bath before Mass, i had reapplied it in case the pains came back and spoilt my enjoyment of Mass, some of it must have been dispersed in the ashes on which the priest placed the ashes on others....i'll know next time not to use it!

I'm not saying this happened to you, but i know that's why my daughters forhead stung after receiving the ashes... hey, you weren't behind my daughter that evening were you!

That story is hilarious!!! ^_^

Ironically, as i was kneeling after i received ashes at wednesday Mass, I was thinking "I wonder if anyone can actually be allergic to the ashes" then my mind wandered and i decided that would be pushing it, and how many people would be allergic to ashes!

A funny friend I'd met about a month ago was meeting with me and some other people downstairs for a game night, and I walked in late after Mass, and he blurted out very loudly "YOU'VE BEEN ASHED!!!" .. i thought it was funny. ;)

Hmmmm.... Allergic to ashes? Maybe they should come up with Hypo-allergenic ashes

Yikes, you have provoked comment from the medical establishment:eek:

Ashes are by definition hypoallergenic or anallergenic, as they contain no allergans. An allergan is a protein that causes the human body to react with an immune response to fight the allergan. This is the typical allergic reaction.

proteins are destroyed by fire, ashes are the remnants of that destruction, they are not allergenic because all possible allergans have been destroyed. A person may have a skin sensitivity to ashes, but it is not an allergic reaction in the truest sense.:sorry:

Here endeth the medical lesson:p  carry on..........

you may resume normal conversation:D
