  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm in the middle on the germ issue. Some things gross my out (like nasty sticky restaurant high chairs) and other things don't (a toy falling on a carpeted floor in a bookstore). What I mostly do for sterilizing is really easy but I am really lucky. I have a dishwasher only one year old that has a sterilizing button that it does while it washes (and you don't have to prewash any dishes its great but thats a different issue) so I have a dishwasher basket that I put nipples in, and some dishwasher safe toys that he chews on a lot and before I determined he hated pacifiers I washed the two he got from the hospital in there, then I put the bottles to the side. So I don't have to spend any time boiling anything. Some other toys I bleach (and then rince really good of course) but not as often as I really should, I'm sure.
