P.O.D.

Anyone here like the P.O.D.? I do and they completely rock and they are Christian.I dont think u can really tell that unless u listen to Satellite,and Portrait on the Satellie album. On the one u can tell by the lyrics these guys are good Christians

I am not saying their music isn't great, if that's your thing. I am not one of those people who think that we should only listen to Christian music 24/7, not by any stretch. But POD sure aren't a Christian band. They may be Christians and in a band together, but that does not a Christian band make. Lets just call a duck, a duck and be done with it. I would be worried if I were them though:

Lets see how that fits with their saying they don't like even the term Christian. I am sorry if that sounded like it has a tone. I actually liked them somewhat until I found that they are ashamed of od being associated with Christ by being called Christians.

All that is SOOOO not correct. Every bit of that came from that horrible, propoganda-filled site av1611.org. This arguement is so old it's annoying. They are absolutely Christians and don't let a site with ulterior motives like that convince you otherwise.

Jah is mentioned as a Hebrew term for God, not Rastafarian. It's in the Old Testament. For anyone that wants to, go to warriorklan.com to see interviews given by P.O.D about their beliefs. They are all Christians and I can sympathize with their lack of liking the term Christian. We have ran over the name of what we should be proud of being called, that the world views us as a joke. They said their not ashamed of Jesus, I mean what more do people want?

Yes, that's right. Jah is short for Jehovah/Yahweh/YWHW/LORD (in all caps).

Flesh 99 and I have discussed this issue for the past couple days. INfact the post he made is a copy and past from the post he made in general theology. His statements make sense but I feel he does not know enough about the band to make sound judgements. Plus his back up comes from one band member alone.

If those quotes are true, then why defend them? It's okay to enjoy their music if they're secular, but if they are just trying to make a name for themselves by using the Christian name, then that is wrong. I'll admit I don't know that much about them, I have heard a couple of good songs from them on the radio (secular) but I haven't heard any refernce to their being Christian, other than an obscure reference from one of the guys where he was talking about praying, even then it wasn't clear who he was praying to. The reason I'm inclined to believe that they are not really christian (although I cannot judge their hearts so I can't know) is that there appears to be an awful lot of people who claim to be christian to get the christian fanbase and once they've made a name for themselves, they'll try to get into the secular market (if they started out in the christian genre)and make an even bigger name for themselves.

I can't really tell. And all the going back and forth about weather they are or not, to me, is enough to tell me there is a good chance they aren't. I mean if they are christian's, whould they want everyone to know it without a doubt?

they are in the secular market cause only christian listen to christian music... they are all about presenting God to unsaved people... hence the secular title. Sounds like common sense to me....

POD denied being a christian band for amny reasons.

1. Technically a christian band is a band on a christian label

2. Non technically, they think the word christian is a clyche'

3. They pose the question: What is a christian band?

I pose the same question stated in number 3, what is a christian band???

Many people have come to know God through their music due to the fact they sing and minister to the secular world as appossed to other "christian" bands who are under the christian label and only get christians to listen to them.

could you show me how they have been proclaiming the gospel?

its nice that they can reach out to the world where some christian artists cant b/c of record labels ..they were on the matrix reloaded and they are played on the most popular station in out school with about 2200 teens...

BOOM-I never knew that a kid like me could take his mic around the world...a christian band reaching out to places where hardcore rap is also played...that is a talent in itself.

and yes they are goin on tour with Linkin park, hoobastank, and Story of the year..but that can be a great outreach....hoobastank is also my favorite secular band..a lot of guys want to see these ppl(100 bux for a floor ticket..55 for the shelf)

I have heard Alive by them, and it is not a christian song, there isn't a mention of God, or Jesus, or the cross. there is nothing religious about it. When they're on tour with these people, it does present an opprotunity to share the gosple, but are they doing it? If they're not then I still have to ask my original question, how are they proclaiming the gospel? Just being played on a popular radio station where many unsaved people will hear them means nothing if they say nothing. I won't say anything about the song you mentiioned on the matrix soundtrack because I've never heard it.
I don't want you to get me wrong, if they're christian that's good, but they have no active ministry going to win souls, and should not be described as a Christian band.
