The Madman himself needs a thread.

I love Ozzy. At least, up until Ozzmosis. Everything after that I could do without. I own all of his albums (including the Sabbath stuff) except for the newest one, which I have no interest in. Ozzy has been finished for years now.

My favorite Ozz album is easily No More Tears. One of the songs that I like off there, that isn't so popular, is Hellraiser. Plus, Zakk is beyond amazing. He is, if not the, one of the best guitarists ever to grace the face of this earth. I even prefer him to Randy Rhodes (I know, that's a blasphamous statement for a true Ozzy fan). I love Randy (he was Lutheran bytheway!!! ), but he died too soon to campare to Zakk. If he was still alive, maybe I would say that he is better. I like the Black Label Society too darn much. Plus, Zakk does some Neil Young covers!

Ozzy is quite a strange man. But then again I'm basing my observations on the TV show and not on the music, which I really haven't listened to. Is that Zakk Wylde you're talkin' about Breetai (just to show I know nothing about anything Ozzy did musically)?

I agree with every part of the OP except the statement placing Wylde above Rhoads. :)

Ozzy's solo career never received due credit. Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman were unbelievable, and I agree that No More Tears was a GREAT album. Hellraiser is a very good song.

I fully expected that. I still stand by my statement that Zakk is better. At least I think so. I love Randy, but Zakk has put out a lot more stuff and has more material to show us how awesome he is. It'd be awesome if Randy Rhodes was still around today. At least he had a crazy dead, that wasn't completely drug related.

Ya Kristian, I'm talking about Randy Rhodes.

I believe that Steve Vai played for Ozzy on Ozzmosis. He also played for David Lee Roth and Frank Zappa early in his career if I'm not mistaken.

Well, I don't listen to it any more for reasons I've stated on other threads, but Ozz & Sabbath were by far my all time favorites "in the day." I liked Volume IV from sabbath, and diary of a Madman by Ozz. But me & my friends took the lyrics way too seriously and got into the devil.
I watched a couple of Ozzy's tv shows maybe 2 years ago. Is this the same guy who got into such deep lyrics? He seems burnt out and "lost in the wheels of confusion" I think at some point he just had too many Heinikens and took too much Acid..... " Cuz smokin and trippin is all that you do, yeah!"
I still have "Ozzy" tatood on my fingers just like he does, and the smiley face on my knee.... so I guess i was really into Ozz at one time......

Do you think that Zakk is a better guitarist, or do you think that he played on better material? If you have any doubt, check out the improvised solo during "Suicide Solution" on the Randy Rhoads tribute cd. I agree that Wylde is awesome, and BLS wails. I just don't think Zakk can compare to Rhoads technically.

Yeah, I think you are right. I believe that Zakk was planning on joining Guns n Roses at the time that Ozzmosis was recorded.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that Geezer Butler wrote the majority of Sabbath's lyrics. I do believe that Ozzy wrote the lyrics to "Who Are You" off of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Oh, didn't mention this before, but Sabbath rocks harder than any band of all time!

Yeah, I've heard that too. Some people actually have called Ozzy a fraud because he didn't actually write all the songs. But still, he really put his heart and soul into them when he sang. I also noticed in some of his live songs he tends to forget words. In the studio he's probabaly reading them off a sheet. None of this effects the quality of the music though.
I heard once "Who are You" is a song he wrote to question Jesus' divinity. Whats up with that? "Then when you have laid it up, you'll just cast our souls into the dust....."
Half the time Ozzy sang songs that put God in a positive light (War Pigs, After Forever, etc.) and other times he glorified the evil one (Black Sabbath, N.I.B., Lord of this World)
Or these lines from "Under the Sun" ~ "Don't want no preacher tellin' me about the God in the sky. Don't want no one tellin' me where I will go when I die. Just want to live my life without people telling me what to do. I'll just beleive in myself, 'cuz no one else is true."
Yeah, definitely a confusing message he sent....

That's crazy that you copied Ozzy's jail tatoos. You really must've been into him.

I've heard all of Randy's Ozzy stuff and I've heard pretty much all of Zakk's stuff. I still like Zakk more, but Randy did rock beyond belief. I have the Tribute CD too, and I agree that the Suicide Solution solo is incredible. Trying to compare Randy and Zakk's best solos and deciding who is better in impossible. Well never know is Randy had reached his full potential or not. If he still had a ways to go, well...I don't know what to say.

I don't like Ozzy. He stands for all of which is evil in this world. He ruins our homes and families.

As for his music though, No More Tears is a good album. . . I own the self-title Black Sabbath record.

Other than that, Ozzy is a demon carrying out the orders of Satan and must be stopped by true followers of Jesus.

Yeah, Led Zeppelin is a better band, but something draws me to Sabbath. I think it is because Sabbath had to overcome being hated by anyone who wasn't a hard rocker and established their fanbase without any radio play. Zep was more talented and creative, but I think Sabbath was more real. They grew up in a poor industrial town and sang about how they hated it. They pretty much grew up around each other, whereas Zeppelin was an all-star band put together by Page. Not that I don't like Zep, but listen to Sabbath's first 5 albums...they wailed!

I think that "Who Are You" has well-written lyrics, although not very edifying. According to Sabbath, NIB was a funny story about the devil coming to earth and falling in love with a girl. Right...I'm not that gullible! I'm not sure if "War Pigs" put God in a positive light; it was pretty much an anti-Vietnam song. However, "After Forever" certainly seems to have a "christian" message, but it was probably done in mocking.

Can't argue with that. I like Zakk's solo "Speedball" off of 1919 Eternal.

If you feel that way, you ought to throw out that Sabbath record...their first album was probably the darkest.

I would doubt that you could find biblical support saying that Ozzy is a demon. I would agree that he is an unrepentant sinner who will be in Hell if he never comes to know Christ, but calling him a demon seems a little far fetched.

I'm farfetched on purpose. You see, people actually believe that kind of talk. The way I say it, it makes it sound farfetched and proves how it's not cool to sound farfetched and be serious about it.

So yeah, I was sorta kidding. I don't care about the members, music is what does it for me.

Preach the truth brother!:D

In all honesty, I can't stand to watch the Osbourne's Show. It's pathetic. So is Ozzy in concert now. I love him, but he has no business doing any more tours. His time has been over for a long time now. Stick with the Ozzfest thing, just don't do any more solo tours; please.

I don't know if you could call Zeppelin a better band. Sabbaths music flowed in some kind of harmony.... "Something draws you to sabbath" Yeah, thats what I felt too, and I don't think its good.
NIB may be a take off on Genesis 6? "Sons of God" (Fallen Angels) taking wives of whom they chose. Whether joke or not, its not funny, because he calls himself Lucifer and says "Follow me now and you will not regret leading the life you led before we met..." Well, I "followed": those words and worshipped Lucifer, and I certainly REGRETTED it!
After Forever is mocking if you look at it that way. It sounds like he is saying those who don't follow Jesus will go to hell though: mocking those who DON'T believe in Jesus. War Pigs is an anti-Vietnam war song but the judgement of God is expressed clearly in it. Electric Funeral also speaks of Gods judgement on Nuclear war.
To sum it up, I think Ozz has some serious demon issues and needs to confess to Christ so he can be healed, because I think his mind is burnt. We did pray for his wife when she was sick too. That whole family needs Gods help...

No More tears is too new. I've heard some of the songs, but never the whole thing. The last full album I heard was the Ultimate Sin. I haven't been into it much since then, and when I did listen it was the older stuff.
