Years ago there were at least two comics that used a wrong word in their routine. One of them used that line and replaced "resent"
With resemble. A sentence may have many words replaced to make it funny.

There's a whole literary form dedicated to that phenomenon. Read Ladle Rat Rotten Hut in which such lines as, "Oh, Groinmurder! Water bag noise ugut!" show their lively faces, or Colonel Stoopnagle's The Loose that Gaid the Olden Geggs with its, "...knocked the loose for a goop with a whasty knack on the nop of the toggin'! Goor little poose!" (though that is another form).
