CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was there a few years ago and I can't say I had that experience - my boyfriend at the time was reading maths (ah, how I love geeks 
). The worst complaint I had about Oxford at that time was the amount of bicycles. Not that I object to them, obviously, simply the manner in which said cyclists seemed to expect you to be aware of them at all times.

I remember reading a post once (not on here) where someone from Crewe said that they were struck by how surly and onboxious Oxford people were when they went down for a weekend. I've never been myself, but my cousin is studying there. He doesn't go to pubs and stuff though.

Sad to read all this - I remember I used to love my shopping trips to Oxford in the seventies. There were lots of bicycles there then! I almost applied for a job at one of the hospitals there but the houses were too expensive for a poor nurse!

I like Oxford. Although at nighttime it does seem to get a little too townie....Oxford has some great history to it. I really enjoy meandering through the cobbled streets and admiring the amazing ancient spires.

I've only been to oxford once so i'm not really in any postition to judge it for myself, but my mum grew up there and havung been back there since she says it's not the same as it used to be, this may just be mid-life crisis talk though...
i do love London, and i'm not that far away from it at all so i go there quite alot with my friends. when i look at universities i'll definately think about a London college, living there would be cool too, it is a tad expensive though
