I decided it couldn't hurt to try. I'm on day 24 of my cycle(mine are between 29-31days) but I got them for next month. It says to start testing for a for a 29 day cycle at day 12 and again every other day until the surge of hormones, than to wait 12 hours before sex.

Has anyone tried these? Thoughts?

I have bought them and have just started to use them. I have been on the pill for 10 years. I have recently decided to stop using it. We aren't ready to get pregnant, not for a few months! So I really need to master this method!! My brother got here from this method.... so I am really trying to figure it out =).. My box says to count from the first day of your last period, 11 days out... for a 28 day cycle. I started testing yesterday which is days early.. I don't want to miss it!! =) I know you aren't suppose be able to get pregnant after getting off of the pill, however I was on the pill when I had my daughter! So, I guess anything is possible!

Good luck!

You're welcome! They are in the section next to the pregnancy tests and all of the fun birth control options!!

Anyone else having a difficult time reading your ovulation tests? The second line is defentily stronger then it was a few days ago, however it's not always as strong. But from my body it's telling me that I'm beginning the ovulation process. I guess I just keep testing every day until it fades again? How many days after that until it's "safe" again? =) I'm not trying to get pregnant trying to avoid it for a couple of months, then we'll try but for right now it's not a good idea for my body just yet.

Thanks

Marlena,

Typically a woman will ovulate 14 days before the end of her cycle. You should ovulate the day after you get a test line on your OPK that is as dark as (or darker than) the reference line. The egg only lives for 12-24 hours, so you should be safe the second day after ovulation.

I tend to spend too much time scrutinizing the darkness of the line and worrying that I'll miss the big event, so I switched to the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. It's quite a bit more expensive, but I bought it with my Christmas money. I found mine on E-Bay, complete with 30 tests ticks, for a little over $100. Although, my DH and I are trying to pinpoint ovulation for the opposite reason.... we're trying to get PG.

Also, a good place to buy cheap OPKs and HPTs is the dollar store! I go there to stock up frequently.

I don't know if this will help but I have what's referred too as mittelschmerz which means middle pain, my ovary actually hurts and I have intense sharp pain on the side that is ovulating. It is not every month but I never knew what it was until recently so I'd thought I'd mention it, thinking if I never knew what the pain was so maybe somebody else has the same monthly discomfort and not realize that that is what it is.....if you do then that's a sure way to know when your ovulating......may God bless you with babies

I get pain day 15 or 16 and that's when the ovulation test said I was having a hormone surge. Hopefully it works but I'm trying not to get my hopes up, we'll see November 5-6.

I bought mine at Dollar Tree I only bought 2 because I didn't know how effective they are. If we have to use them long term I may try buying them in bulk.
