• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

My adult son has OCD. If you are in an unbreakable cycle of OCD,
  1. Talking, alone, will not help you. (Nor does a proliferation of threads.)
  2. Talk to a psychiatrist about getting medicine.
  3. If you have such medicine, take it.
  4. If it isn't working, tell your psychiatrist so they can make adjustments as necessary.
You will not be able to hear anyone unless/until you do the above.

Yeah I'm familiar with bipolar schizo-effective disorder. Not really OCD. OCD appears to have similar behaviors as to what I remember when I was not medicated which is odd. But schizo-effective disorder is really only handled with medications.

I go to my doctors office and every now and then there is a not-medicated patient in the waiting room. They're usually fighting verbally out loud with an invisible person. It's when they become religious that those invisible people turn into angels, demons and gods.

I've been praying for this person daily this week. I believe that God is the only real long distance help. Many of us have tried to give the right words. I pray that he/she will reach out to someone locally. I just feel so much love for them.

I thought about that and I don't think someone with bad OCD can care for themselves, so they should have a caretaker in place. Which is just a thought I guess.
