• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Anyone here struggle?

I have a history of eating disorders including binge eating disorder and I hate being so weak. I know it's the sin of gluttony and I want to overcome it. It's soo hard though! I feel like food is especially dangerous as it is everywhere and you have to eat it to survive.

It's really getting me down seeing myself at the weight I am now and how unhealthy I am...

I don't binge eat, but I do snack when I'm feeling down. So, I can relate to your struggle with overeating (it just tastes so good).

I think you need to find a healthy friend, who will ask you everyday about your struggle. This will remind you of the problem, and not allow you to become complacent about the issue. Also pray for strength. We all have our struggles... I certainly have mine.

been struggling heaps with this lately. I asked a brother about it, he told me that God wants us to enjoy the foods of the earth, but as long as they arn't idols, just like the apostle John says flee idolatry. All food is good and made by God. also Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. , the enemy will try to deceive you thinking that the food your eating isn't literally God giving it to you personally. So this helps me be thankful to Him when i clear this desception and ask God to keep me from this deception. Also guilt and shame are probly from the enemy if your getting that. Spend time with God alone, asking Him to show any way of offense in you. When you keep feeling shame and guilt you are more prone to continue, just talk to God about it ask Him for strength continue to pray and don't lose heart!
