You cannot lose your salvation for succumbing to temptation but you will be rewarded the crown of life if you do resist.
Why is there such a struggle w/ temptation?
1. sin nature w/in us (old man- new man)
2. our inward desires
3. the wickedness of our own heart
What is the source of temptation?
1.pleasure
2.possession
3.position
4.greed
5.irritation
Lust of the eye-god of possession
Lust of the flesh-god of pleasure
The pride of life-god of position
Winning thru overcoming temptation
1.dismissal of egotism
2.a continual awareness that you are a prey
3.keep on your entire war gear (the whole armor of God)
4.avoid harboring sin--keep confession current
5.realize you cannot have 2 masters
6.avoid pre-meditated yielding to temptation
7.familiarize yourself with the Word of God
8. ceaselessly praying
9.inquire of He who has overcome temptation (Jesus)
10.must control your thought patterns
11.be committed to your profession of faith
12.it's a personal choice
13.realize God is there for you during the temptation
14.realize God has an exit door if we will take it
15.realize God knows our weaknesses
16.recognize you belong to God
17.realize that yielding to temptation is a sin against God
what succumbing to temptation can do to you
1. destroy reputation
2.mars character
3.shatters ministries
4.divides families
5.alienates friends
6.affects all believers
