My Hypothesis isn't very popular

It appears that my hypothesis is failing miserably. So far we have:

1. 2 votes indicating that it is more challenging to nail things down; and

2. 1 vote indicating that it is more challenging to move past a desire to nail things down.

1. BFA's definition of "Black-and-White." A desire to not only seek understanding, but also to impose this understanding on others (I acknowledge that others define "black-and-white" as "absolute truth" -- this isn't my working definition).​

You're defining terms in a way no one else is using, especially me. The "black-and-white" are the things God has nailed down, and the challenge is to determine those things and submit to them. No one but you has suggested anything about imposing your view onto others.​

That's the beauty of having permission to start your own thread. You can test ideas, using your own definitions, and see if they hold water. That's exactly what I'm doing here. Feel free to join in or abstain based on your level of interest.

It appeared that you had included my responses in your tally, and yet attributed a meaning to them that I never wrote. I can certainly abstain from engaging in dialogue, and I think that's best when I see that you are not honest concerning the responses you have garnered.

An accusation of dishonesty is quite personal and certainly unwarranted in this case. It wasn't my desire to impose my definitions on you. Only to point out that--if there is a difference between us--it may be due to the fact that we define the terms differently. And, if we defined things the same way, we may or may not disagree.

My intent was this:

1. Demonstrate that there appears to be a disconnect between us.
2. Suggest that, perhaps, the apparent disconnect was based on differing definitions.
3. Summarize the ways in which I've been viewing the terms differently.
4. Offer an apology for not realizing sooner that we were defining the terms differently.

I now realize you understood my intent as being this:

1. Tally the responses
2. Change the definitions that are the basis of those responses
3. Draw conclusions based on definitions that you did not agree to.
