• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have been nursing a serious leg injury for the past two months. I fell on December 30th, and was in the hospital for two weeks in January. I also had to have surgery, and now have visiting nurses for the past month, doing wound care. I have had to keep the leg elevated, and could not do basic housework, or even attend church for the past two months.

In all of this, God has been good. Family and friends have been there for me. It has been so neat to see God at work,

Good hearing from you, not so good about the leg, though if I get it right the leg is healing nicely. Also good to hear that family and friends have been there for you that makes so much difference.

with me all things are going good. the medications the doctor put me on are finally beginning to work a little better. I still am sleepy a lot but my moods have been good.

I hope you will soon be walking again.

Hello Everyone..

I'm doing ok, I am in Texas with my brother have for several months.. I left North Carolina due to friends were being how can I say this nicely.."rude" to me well one was, its more one person than it is the other..And the attitude and thickness was more than I could bare so I left to come to Texas, up on getting here, it hasn't been the "best" circumstances I live in a travel trailer and only source of heat is a space heater and and now for past month driving my brothers 91 Ford Escort, not the best car but a set of wheels, I was confined at the house/trailer for near 4 months before we got the car up and driving..

My SSI (Social Security) took 6 mo to get the first check, we went down to see about it and it was approved medically

As far as the divorce I believe its final, and still going to see what I can do get visitations with my son J. I miss him and Ex won't let me talk to him or anything and well that will change in the coming months

Yes I'm online and such, and my ex uses sites I haven't used in ages which to me is stupid on his part, and honestly my "Blog" is mine alone to use and say what I please and desire to say not up to him or anyone else what I write about

Anyway I still have to find medical or medicaid here in Texas to apply and job's to find and a car... Still alot on my plate to do but I guess with God things will fall into place...

Prayers for those who have a harder time I know we each have plates full and trying times to get us through.. Least now its getting there and relying on God to help us each day we ask Him to.. Hugs and Blessings...

Good hearing from you again Laura. Sad to hear about your divorce and even sadder that your ex keeps contact with your son from you, such is not nice and shouldn't happen. I hope you get visitations with him soon.

With me everything is so so. I had another psychosis in July and am back on medication. The good thing of the medication is that my psychosis is under control but I sleep a lot and my mood is still often low, though it is better than things used to be.

I hope everything turns out alright for you:wave:

*pokes head in and grabs me a cup*

Hello Everyone..

Stopping in to breath, been looking for work like crazy here, in Texas and still not much of a bite, but got to keep pushing.. I believed my divorce finalized in January. April was the roughest month I had in awhile... I havent talked to J yet..I heard that ex moved in with his mom and ect, not sure what is going on there and I know his cell number changed so needless got to find a way to get ahold of him.. Things here in tex are fine..Just bit irritating due to my brother's car is actingup and thank God have the bike up but goodness one thing after another lately. *Sighs deep* :doh:I'm also tryin to get into a job that can transfer me to CA wich will take an act of God to get honestly, I dont know how much or well that'll work but its a desire I want badly! Other than that not much going on.. Just taking it a day a time and dealing as best I can... Glad to hear some of you doing well or hopes... Continued prayers for everyone... :crossrc:

Hello Everyone..

As you can see I am back in California! Woot, a friend helped me get here due to circumstances that were well, not beyond my control but were just a bit irritating to say the least... An 18hr bus deal is exhasuting and fun at same time.. Still pretty tired will hope to nap later maybe...lol :sorry:

We will see how things land for me here in CA, hope next few months will give me time to grow and explore more potential and such and see my baby boy Josh... Missing him alot but it'll take time get things settled but things slowly looking up... Yay!!!

I would appreciate everyone's prayers for the next two weeks. Monday, the 25th, I am having sinus surgery, and getting my nose fixed. I fell and broke my nose in December, but had to nurse a bad leg injury from the same fall. That required surgery and home nursing care for two months. Then, I had to travel to Michigan, from home in PA, where my daughter was pregnant with my third grandchild, and then to visit when the baby arrived.

Next week, July 3rd, I am having another surgery to remove a suspicious mole and some fatty tumors on and in my arms.

Finally, I would appreciate prayer because my finances are a disaster. Because of two trips to Michigan so close together, I fell behind in keeping up my checking account, and started bouncing a ton of checks. I used to work a part time job, to supplement my retirement and Social Security, but haven't been able to do that since August of last year.

I am not anxious about any of this stuff. God took great care of me in January during two hospitalizations for my leg, and the two months of home nursing care. I also know He is the Great Physician, and that He will provide.

I appreciate everyone's input here.

In His Grip,
Trish/aka Madison 1101

How is everyone?

Since my last psychosis last year June I have gone back on medications, at first it seemed to work quiet good, for they calmed me right down without making me to puffed out.

But then I let a doctor convince me that I needed more medications, 200 percent more, and this has had no good effect on me. My moods are becoming more and more down, I hardly cycle anymore, just down.

I feel nauseated in the mornings, and find it very hard to get going with anything. I walk a lot - up and down in my living room.

I'm not due seeing my pdoc until August.:o

It is a real pain.

I hope all of you are well:wave:

When I have bad side effects from my psych meds, I immediately call my psychiatrist. He calls me back and discusses the side effects and sometimes adjusts my meds over the phone. Don't wait and suffer for a whole month. Call your doctor today and get help.

The problem is that I'm not in the good books with my doctor at the moment. And these long apart appointments are some kind of punishment to pull me back into line.:o

It took many months before I agreed to take more medications so he is unlikely to drop it in a hurry regardless of how I feel:o

It is good to hear you have a better relationship with your doctor, it gives me hope.

When I worked in a psych hospital, I learned that there are some medications that can be given for certain negative side effects. So, whether you think you are not in good with your doc, you should still call and ask to discuss the side effects, and ask if there is anything that the two of you can do about it.

As far as seeing the distance between appointments as punishment, my therapist did that to me, NOT to punish me, but to help me become less dependent on him, and more self-reliant. Psychiatrists do not punish. They make hard decisions in the best interest of the patient that just are not pleasant based on the actual needs of the patient. When we are symptomatic, our judgement is not great, and we perceive things differently from the people that are experts on our behavior.

Thanks for your reply

I'm not sure if doctors cannot be biased to not let feelings rule their judgment This doctor became upset with me because I didn't trust him enough to tell him what negative effects my illness had had on my marriage. He told me that I ought to feel shame and guilt - basically that I could not rely on Salvation to rule my feeling world as it does. He told me also that I had been lying to the medical world about the evil voices I hear when I am in my psychotic downs (maybe this is why he wants me to feel guilt and shame, I haven't quite worked it out, for I have only seen him twice)

The problem is I got no other choice of Pdoc living Down South, but I know for sure that he doesn't like me.:o

G'day Laura good to hear things are better for you than they have been. It is always good to hear good news.

As for myself I'm not doing so good right now. My doctor keeps on increasing my meds even though they have been making me less well. I'm very tired and often depressed and not at all feeling good about my life right now.

I'm trying to keep the doctors happy with me by complying but I don't know how long I'm going to keep this up.

Greetings:wave:

Awww sorry to hear you've been down and Dr's not helping you much even though med increase is rough as it is.. Still some things are for a reason, have you tried to talk to your Dr and tell him/her that its not helping? It would be rough if it continued to make you feel bad..

Thank you, yes some things are slowly looking up while others is a pain, but my depression isn't to "bad" I have my days and weeks, but headaches are never ending to say the least.

Keep clinging to the Lord, he'll bring us through I know, easy to say than do trust me... I have to keep the reminder God never allows us more than we can handle no matter what.. As the Bible says, Lean on God and he'll lighten our burdens. Keep the faith my friend...:amen:

I'm glad that your depression isn't too bad lately that must amount up to something. Though headaches are not much fun either.

I stick with the Lord like glue, I haven't got anything else that I trust more than our God. He will get me through.:amen:

I've been struggling the past week or so with some physical issues that are contributing to a bout of depression. Normally, I am pretty stable, but last week, I was rear ended, and my back is sore. I haven't been able to attend my AA meetings like I usually do, and today, I didn't make it to my volunteer work.

I know that this too shall pass. It's just hard to fight pain.

I hope and pray that the pain will ease so your depression will ease as well.

It is true it is hard to fight pain.

That God bless you with His nearness.
