  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Almost every couple has "their" song...whether it was a song they first danced to together or one that makes them both think of each other.

My boyfriend and I have two..."When You Come Back to Me" by Garth Brooks, and "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down. These are special to us because we are separated for months at a time as I travel back and forth to visit family alot, and it's our way of "being" together.

What is(are) your song(s) with your S.O. and why is it special?

Ours is 'Amazed' by Lonestar and 'God blessed the broken Road' by The Rascal Flats. These two songs really describe our love and relationship. I sent her the lyrics to 'Amazed' in an email and she loved it. On a side note, I make mix cds for her that have songs that describe my love for her. There is alot of great music out there!

If we're talking about a song that REMINDS us about a special time in the relationship...

'Knocking on Heaven's Door' (Guns n roses) - the chorus is appropriate (it was the first time he kissed me  )

But, I haven't really thought about having 'our song' - basically cos all the love songs I know of bring back thoughts of co-dependency or OTT romance. Basically, I dissect the lyrics of most love songs, and just start laughing at how they try to describe true love... :p

I do like 'miracle drug' by U2 - and that's because it makes me think of how sometimes I'd go to the extreme of taking myself out of the equation if it would help resolve B's depression...

Oh- I forgot to state the significance of the song. Here's the story. Before I started seeing my boyfriend, I was friends with him, and he was helping me find a place of my own (I was moving out for the first time). After spending my morning viewing a suite I did not particularly care for, we decided to go back to his place. He decided to put on some music. At one point, he put in a Corey Hart CD, and "Tell Me" came on. He made some comment about it being a beautiful song. At this stage in the game, I had already been falling for him for quite some time, and I remember thinking distinctly, "This would be our song if we were going out." A couple of weeks later, we DID start going out, and I suggested to my SO that this be our song. He told me at a later time that he had hoped years ago that he would one day have someone special to share that song with. Awwwwww!

funny how my SO and I never wanted to have "a song" just for us... because hey, i get so sick of songs so fast that it's kinda stupid. but even so, we seem to have one:

"Such Great Heights" by the Postal Service (also sung by Iron and Wine) there are some other songs that remind me of our relationship:

"Communication" by the Cardigans
"First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Johnny Cash
"A Man and a Woman" U2
