Our Salvation

This may or may not break out a debate not sure, but i am after your thoughts on the whole thing.....

We are saved when we confess to the Lord our sins Ask that he may grant us repentance and forgiveness for our evil way of liveing.
"Romans 10:9 ESV because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Then we must live ourlifes to the New Self and let the old die and also put it to death right. This is also known as saintification. But none the less a viatal part of our salvation.
"Ephesians 4:20-24 ESV But that is not the way you learned Christ!-- (21) assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, (22) to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, (23) and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, (24) and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness."

The thing that i would like to point out is that it doesn't matter if we hold to TULIP or not because we are saved on Christs Lordship not our veiw of How Man comes to salvation. I mean noone can ever say that they have a full understanding of God, other than what scripture has shown us and still there are many deep things we won't know about God.

When you change that to "Then He will cause us ..." you might have a better understanding of who you are before God, and more importantly, who God is.

I don't know anyone who'd say "holding to TULIP" is a prerequisite of salvation. It is just a helpful anagram delineating some pertinent theological truths. Why would a Christian not hold to them? They are a simple progression of logic from scripture.

When you see God in HIs awesome holiness and come to see yourself as a wretched, hopeless sinner in desperate need of a Savior, then you're on the right track! God has brought you to this place! You humbly bow before Him, so eager to learn of Him, please Him, live for HIm that you study His word and come to know Him by reading, studying what He said to us and listening to the gospel preached in its fullness!
The doctrines of grace are descriptive of this process and that He preserves us in Him for eternity!

I agree that it doesn't necessarily matter if we hold to TULIP or not, at least for those who don't understand TULIP or haven't been taught it. I know I certainly was christian before I had heard of or understood the Doctrines of Grace.

However, I wonder about those people who know about the Doctrines of Grace, have studied it, understand it, but reject it in favor of Arminianism.

There are some, I've seen here on CF, that fight passionately against what they believe it teaches, but don't actually understand it---or fight against it as a knee-jerk reaction to the idea before they even delve into it---

so, yeah, I'd have to say I'd agree with your OP....
