It would be a waste of sacred blood for Jesus to have died nevertheless having us all feel perpetually guilty, not just for our own sins, but for the sins of every Christian that has ever lived too.
Know the history, by all means.
Repent from it, when necessary. Make atonements, when possible. And then go live better in those respects that the Christians before us have failed to follow the Christian path.
Remember though that my hands are not your hands, not your hands, mine. Christians who have shed the blood of Jews have had their hands stained, not yours, mine, or ours.
We are responsible for our own personal sins, not the sins of everybody who has come before.
Honor the good that Christians and saints who have come before have accomplished. We have much to be grateful for, and so, incidentally, do Jews. Everyone has benefitted greatly from Christians following the books written by our common Jewish fathers in the faiths.
As for what has gone wrong, do better. That is what Jesus would have us do, and not wailing "out, out damn spots" as if we were all Lady Macbeth when it comes to blood stained hands. That kind of guilt is the path to insanity.
No one should feel guilty for a denominations past sins but they should not try to deny or cover them up either. There is enough blood to go around for all sides to have on their hands. If all sides enter the discussion with humility and recondition all bear responsibility for the outcome rather than your side is worse than ours at least it is a start. Calling Jews "Christ Killers" when your sins kept Jesus on that Cross just as much as every one else's' is very hypocritical at a minimum. Jesus said we are to Love one another not point an accusing finger at each other but rather judge not.
