Ouch,Carpal tunnel

For a while now my carpal tunnel has been bugging me more
since I've gotten hooked on playing mahjong.If I play too long my hand swells up but always
stopped hurting after a while. I've been playing less and only play video games for an hr,or hr and a half. Anyways I always woke up fine the next day even after a day of playing games until this morning.I woke up with my hand hurting and even after icing it twice today,and being prayed over It still hurts!! Why this sudden flare up and whats this mean for me? I'm so scared I'll eventually need surgery. Please can you keep me in prayer? Thanks Love Sunshine.

My recollection is that carpal tunnel tends to be cumulative. You need to change your evil ways, baby, to make your hand stop hurting you. You've got to change, baby. And every word that I say is true.

At least look into a different type of controller.

I was diagnosed with carpal--I got a wrist brace and wore it every night and often during the day also. I keeps the wrist from bending. The pain cleared up and I've not worn one in a couple years now. If I feel it returning I put it back on. But that hasn't happened in a very long time.

Whats Cumulative mean,I mostly play New super mario brothers for the wii
with the controller sideways.Thats the way its designed to simulate the original I suppose.

Cumulative means that the damage keeps building. You need to stop doing the damage and heal, not simply start up again after the pain goes away. Just because the game is designed that way doesn't mean that your hands are. Look into other options.

I will keep you in my prayers as I have had this for over 30 years myself.

Although this is not the place for advice I will tell you this was my solution instead of surgery.

This is generally the solution. I didn't use a brace, but I became aware that I habitually was bending my wrist while sleeping. I consciously changed that habit every time I woke or was half-asleep, and I haven't had any problems since, in many years now.

Also, break up the gaming with periods of wrist relaxation.

Sorry, I know this wasn't prayer, but it seems the best way to help this situation. Blessings.

I have suffered from CTS and so has my daughter. I have found that a cheap quarter size therapeutic magnet (north pole side down on the skin) over the carpal tunnel area helps greatly when I do art work. My daughter says the "downward dog" position in yoga makes her CTS go away. Something to research maybe. Praying you will get whatever medical or alternative health help is right for you....
