  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many believe that the Virgin Mary appeared above a Coptic Orthodox Church a few decades back and the event was witnessed by thousands. You can even see a photo online of the apparent apparition. Why do saints apparently not appear to Protestants and rarely it seems to Eastern Orthodox, I do not know.

Why aren't there other saints appearing or to protestants or are there?

It's not something one should expect or look for - ever. There is always the risk of delusion or deception. And to go seeking for it increases such a risk, and may indicate pride, or some other vice. God rarely does things just because we want them, but rather when they are good for us. And being visited by an Angel, the Virgin Mary, or some Saint may not be good for many of us, for a great many reasons. Protestants may have additional reasons why this could be so for them.

But with that said, other Saints or Angels DO appear at times, perhaps much more frequently than the Virgin Mary, in fact. We just don't make a big deal out of it (again, risk of pride or delusion), and the Church regards that as a matter between the Christian and God, not something for the whole Body.
