i think it depends on the dress or skirt. i saw another womens underwear before at church cause her skirt was so short....and some of the teen girls....i have to cover my sons eyes when they walk by. i would rather them in pants (the ones that come above your hips-not below your underpants).
but thats another thread...

back to the OP, i believe that we cannot be saved thru following the law. but-we are to obey God's law as we are to strive for holiness to please God. now we are to strive to follow the law but if we mess up, we are not going to burn because of Christ's forgiveness to us.

godschosengirl,
what are you referring to here when you say the "law." OT laws? NT commands? both?

I wanted to clarify something about the church I attend.
Today in Sunday school the pastor is going over seperation and just so happened to touch on the subject of pants and skirts.
He has said that if you are a worker of the church, Sunday school, teachers, choir members, etc, you need to dress according to the church's dress code. Then he proceed to tell us that is where he draws the line. He had said that he has been to church where there is a sign up on the front door that says "No pants on women allowed" He said..........."How in the WORLD do these people think they are going to reach anyone with THAT on their door?" This is so true. I do agree that because I am representing the church, being in the choir, being a kings kids teacher, and also being married to a man who has been called to preach that I MUST obey these church dress rules. Dressing in a provocitive manner (showing my butt and cleavage) would tempt other men in the church and also make my husband look bad! When women come in our church like this, no one pre-judges them. We love them just the same and pray that they will grow to understand christian modesty.
I am saddened to see that there are churchs out there that would banish a churchmember for the cloths they wear. That is just sad.

ok, then i'd like to ask you, in the sincere spirit of my original question, do you follow (or try to) all of the points in the Deut. passage that I quoted above? the no pants, no wool and linen mixed, fringes on the 4 corners of your garment, etc. And all the other "obscure" laws throughout Deut., Lev., and the rest of the OT?
why or why not?
i'm not attacking--just truly trying to figure this out.
thanks!!

Kayanne-
If you look atthe principle of the law in deut, its talking about modesty right?
Wool I stay away from because it itchs me. As for the frindge, I think that was a custom of that day kinda thing. The princlple of this law was modesty, which I think that should be up held in this day and age.
What would be accpetable in one country as modest might not be acceptable in another contries society.
I really hope that the modesty style of the 30's and 40's come around again. I am tired of looking at billboards with 1/2 naked people on them!

i try to. there are alot of the 613 commandments in the OT that cant be followed today due to no temple and no state of Israel (sacrifice and judicial laws). and again, Jesus did not come to abolish the law. if i dont obey them-yes. i still have my place in heaven due to Jesus' sacrifice. but-i know these are things that are pleasing to God so i strive to please Him. :)

613...i never counted them, so that's interesting. how many are able to be followed today? i'm curious, is this your personal conviction, or the teaching of some churches? i had not heard of christians still following all the OT law (or, as you say, the ones that can be)
